The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koppel takes one on the button.
Koppel uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Familia.

Koppel instigates a clinch.
Koppel wants a takedown.
Koppel tries for a takedown. No joy.
A frustrated look appears on Familia's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Familia tries to break free but Koppel pushes him back against the cage.

Koppel breaks from the clinch.
Familia really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Familia pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Koppel walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Koppel bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Familia pushes Koppel away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Koppel gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Familia trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Koppel slips a straight right by Familia.
Familia changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Koppel feints and as Familia raises his hands in defense, Koppel changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Koppel wants to stand but Familia is controlling his posture from full guard.

Familia pushes Koppel off and gets back to his feet.

Koppel tries to clinch up but Familia circles away and keeps his distance.

Koppel tries for a takedown but Familia sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

A looping hook to the body misses from Familia. Koppel does a little dance to reset his feet.

Koppel closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Familia did well to prevent Koppel getting side control.

Familia swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Familia scores with a hook to the body. Koppel takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Koppel shoots in but Familia avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Duke Familia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Familia lands a lovely overhand right.
Familia looks to throw the jab but Koppel is out of range.
Koppel takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Koppel shoots in for a takedown but Familia shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Koppel uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Familia.
Familia throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Koppel on the side of the head.
Familia lands with a hook. Koppel tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Koppel is rocked!
Koppel tries to get into range but Familia steps to the side and lands a beautiful hook that drops Koppel! He's faceplanted into the mat, ass in the air... he's out cold! That's an image he won't want to show his grandkids when he gets older! Familia scores the big KO victory!
