Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Andres Katipunan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Macario Sakay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andres Katipunan could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Macario Sakay's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andres Katipunan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Macario Sakay!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sakay dives in and grabs Katipunan's left leg, looking for a takedown. Katipunan pushes down on Sakay's head and hops out.
Sakay shoots in but no luck this time.

Sakay clinches up with Katipunan and pushes him back against the cage.
Sakay is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Sakay is pressed up against the cage. Katipunan has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Sakay down to the mat. Sakay avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Sakay gets the takedown into side control.
Katipunan sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Katipunan looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Sakay passes the guard and advances to mount!
Katipunan can't escape the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Katipunan is trying to reverse the position but instead Sakay has taken his back - oops!
Sakay is trying to stick to Katipunan's back but Katipunan is turning into Sakay. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Sakay's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Katipunan.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Sakay pulls Katipunan in close to prevent any damage.
Katipunan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sakay swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Sakay really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Katipunan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Macario Sakay dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Sakay shoots in but Katipunan avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Sakay fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Katipunan, pushing him back against the cage.
Katipunan has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Sakay avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Katipunan has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Sakay is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Katipunan tries for a takedown but Sakay manages to get underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andres Katipunan. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Sakay pulls Katipunan in close to prevent any damage.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Andres Katipunan will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Katipunan circles away from the clinch attempt.
Sakay wants to clinch.

Sakay closes the distance and pushes Katipunan back into the cage.
Katipunan changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Sakay fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Sakay shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Katipunan regains half guard.
Katipunan tries to roll over but Sakay keeps him under control.

Katipunan looking for submissions off his back.

Katipunan looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Sakay moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Katipunan.
Katipunan is looking for a sweep.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Sakay stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Sakay wants to clinch.

Katipunan gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Sakay avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Katipunan looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Katipunan is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Sakay is aware though and is defending well.

Sakay gets to his feet. Katipunan looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Katipunan gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Sakay is pushing down on Katipunan's leg trying to pass to half guard. Katipunan is fighting to maintain full guard but Sakay has managed to sneak the leg through.
Sakay tries to stand and escape but Katipunan is controlling the position.

Katipunan tries to roll over but Sakay keeps him under control.

Katipunan looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Sakay in particular looking to stall.

Katipunan is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Sakay pulls his head out easily.
Sakay controlling the pace.

And that's the end of the fight!
Macario Sakay comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Sakay has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
