The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McKnight feints and as De la Vega raises his hands in defense, McKnight changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
De la Vega looking to hit a scissor sweep but McKnight is one step ahead there.
McKnight drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and McKnight jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
De la Vega has his foot on McKnight's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McKnight works his way back into a safe position though.
De la Vega keeping moving, preventing McKnight from controlling successfully.
McKnight avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
De la Vega escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McKnight gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
De la Vega looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
De la Vega looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
De la Vega keeping moving, preventing McKnight from controlling successfully.

De la Vega is looking for a triangle but McKnight pushes his legs off easily.
McKnight has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing De la Vega to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! McKnight is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - De la Vega pulls down on the head and he's put McKnight to sleep! This one is all over!
