Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Josh Barnes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Knogen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Josh Barnes has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Josh Barnes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Richard Knogen!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knogen works Barnes's body with a nice hook.

Knogen rushes Barnes and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Knogen is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Knogen is trying to trip Barnes. He has hold of a leg but Barnes is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Knogen persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Barnes wants to stand and escape but Knogen is having none of it.
Knogen wants to control from the top but Barnes keeps moving.
Barnes is looking to stand up but Knogen isn't so interested in that idea.

Barnes wriggles free and stands up.
Barnes throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Knogen throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Barnes.
Knogen avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

and Barnes moves into the clinch.

Knogen tries to pull guard but Barnes won't allow it.
Barnes wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
A head punch on the inside from Barnes fails to land.
Barnes really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Knogen prevents the takedown attempt.
Barnes is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Barnes's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Knogen moves into the clinch successfully.

Knogen shoots in but Barnes avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Knogen is looking to stand up but Barnes won't let him.
Knogen won't allow Barnes to get back to his feet.

Knogen trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Knogen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Barnes works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Knogen pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Barnes is keeping the position for now.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Knogen counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Knogen.

Barnes pushes Knogen off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Barnes misses with a double jab.
Knogen lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Knogen fails with an attempt to clinch.
Knogen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Barnes paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Knogen doesn't manage to clinch there - Barnes circles away.
Knogen throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Barnes counters with a lovely shot to the body.
A right-left combo lands from Knogen.
Knogen is looking to clinch.
Barnes throws a right hand that Knogen ducks under and follows up with a left that Knogen also avoids with ease.
Knogen throws a combination. Barnes tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Barnes fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Knogen, pushing him back against the cage.

Knogen blocks an uppercut.
Nice body punch from Barnes.

Knogen breaks the clinch.
Knogen scores with a three punch combo!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Barnes.
Richard Knogen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Knogen showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Barnes.
Knogen is looking to clinch.

Knogen closes the distance and clinches.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Barnes has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Knogen avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Knogen tries to score a body lock takedown but Barnes shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Barnes shoots in for a double leg but Knogen sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Knogen wants to clinch but Barnes slips to the side

and Barnes counters with a shoot takedown. Knogen fights it but they end up in guard.
Knogen controlling the position.
Barnes looking to sit in guard and control but Knogen gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Knogen won't allow Barnes to get back to his feet.
Knogen tries to free his leg and advance position but Barnes is retaining full guard.
Barnes wants to stand and escape but Knogen is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Knogen tries to stand but Barnes is controlling from the bottom.
Barnes on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Barnes tries to get out of the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Knogen stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Josh Barnes is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Barnes displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Knogen.

Knogen shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Barnes's guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Josh Barnes will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Knogen feints and then cracks Barnes's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Barnes down.
Knogen moves in looking to clinch but Barnes pushes him off.
Knogen tests Barnes's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Barnes gets caught flat footed, as Knogen shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Knogen stands and steps away. Barnes gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Barnes shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Barnes was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Knogen wants to control but Barnes is having none of it.
Knogen sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Barnes is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Knogen wants to get back to his feet.
Barnes working the head and body with strikes.
Knogen trying to control from the bottom.
Barnes is keen to just control but Knogen is a slippery customer.

Knogen kicks off Barnes and gets to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Barnes working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Knogen keeping moving, preventing Barnes from controlling successfully.
Knogen is trying to control the position but Barnes postures up.
Barnes throws a strike but Knogen rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Knogen slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Knogen trying to control but Barnes is working from the bottom.
Knogen might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Barnes kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Barnes displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Knogen throws out the jab.
Barnes works over Knogen's head and body with a nice combination.

Knogen throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Barnes was covering up waiting for the punch and Knogen finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Richard Knogen.
Well Knogen has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
