PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Danny The Iceman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karl Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The Iceman's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Hell Yeah- Rev Theory. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Danny The Iceman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Karl Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Iceman swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
The Iceman shoots in for a takedown but Jackson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
The Iceman sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

The Iceman shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. The Iceman showed some decent athleticism there.
Jackson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. The Iceman is working away from the top position though.
Jackson is looking to improve his position.

The Iceman is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Jackson is pressing down on The Iceman's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The Iceman in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Jackson has his hands on The Iceman's head, controlling the position.
The Iceman stands and throws Jackson's legs to the side, diving into side control.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
I wouldn't like to be where Jackson is right now.
You can see the frustration on Jackson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Jackson throws a few strikes from the bottom but The Iceman takes advantage and mounts!

The Iceman looking to control but Jackson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The Iceman is breathing heavily.
Jackson tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Jackson tries to hold on but The Iceman postures up.
The Iceman trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The Iceman misses with a head shot.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Jackson swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Jackson tries to hold on but The Iceman postures up.
Jackson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Jackson holds on, trying desperately to control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jackson sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Danny The Iceman will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


The Iceman tries to clinch but Jackson moves out of range.
Jackson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jackson wants it to stay on the feet.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Jackson, right into the meat.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from The Iceman.

Jackson has The Iceman up against the cage in a clinch.

Jackson breaks the clinch.
The Iceman misses with a takedown attempt - Jackson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Danny The Iceman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The Iceman shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jackson but Jackson pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Jackson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in The Iceman's half guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Let's hope that Jackson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The Iceman is trying to get back to full guard.
The Iceman is in trouble now - Jackson has advanced to mount!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Despite being in the dominant position, Karl Jackson just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Jackson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. The Iceman is trying to defend but Jackson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Jackson is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for The Iceman!

Jackson controlling the pace for now.
The Iceman is wriggling around trying to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Karl Jackson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!


The Iceman wants to clinch

and Jackson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Jackson is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Jackson connects with a couple of short punches.

Jackson stands up from guard. Let's bang!
The Iceman takes a kick to the side of the head.

The Iceman looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Jackson has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Jackson kicks The Iceman off and gets to his feet.
The Iceman shoots and misses

and Jackson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Jackson.

Jackson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Jackson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. The Iceman manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Jackson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Jackson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Jackson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The Iceman is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jackson defends well.

Jackson passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Jackson works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Jackson decides to stand back up. Jackson steps back and let's The Iceman get back to his feet.

Jackson quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Jackson but it's paid off an The Iceman is forced to tap! Nice work by Jackson.
