Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Logan Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rickson Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Logan Harris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rickson Maia!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Hugh Johnson and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harris is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Logan Harris seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Maia feints and as Harris raises his hands in defense, Maia changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Harris pushes Maia off and gets back to his feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Harris looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Harris clinches with his opponent.
Knees to the body from Harris.
Harris has Maia pressed against the cage, preventing Maia from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Harris utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Maia tries to pull guard but Harris won't allow it.

Maia gets control of Harris's arms and successfully pulls guard. Maia will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Harris tries to stand but Maia is controlling from the bottom.

Harris wants to stand and escape but instead Maia has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Maia prevents Harris from getting back to his feet.
Maia postures up in Harris's guard and throws a big left but Harris blocks it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Maia scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Maia stops Harris from getting back to his feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Maia closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Harris to the mat! Harris manages to get full guard.

Maia stands and steps away. Harris gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
A nice leg kick lands there from Maia.
Maia should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Maia shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Harris's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Maia decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Harris, up you get!

Maia moves into the clinch successfully.
Harris has had enough of the clinch but Maia keeps him there for the moment.

Maia gets a trip takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Harris is trying to stand up here but Maia is controlling him well.

Maia decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Maia stands up from Harris's guard - Maia perhaps looking for a knockout.

Maia clinches with his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rickson Maia dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Harris slaps away a takedown attempt from Maia, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Maia scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Harris pushes Maia away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Maia gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Harris is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Maia is controlling him well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Maia is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Harris is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Harris is working to avoid the ground and pound but Maia connects with a decent elbow.
Maia wants to lay and pray for a moment but Harris keeps working.

Maia stands up.

Maia rushes Harris and presses him up against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Maia wants a takedown.
Maia is trying to drag Harris to the mat but Harris just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Logan Harris has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rickson Maia.

Harris digs a right hand into Maia's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Maia's gas tank.
Harris lands a body shot.
Harris misses with a knee to the head.

Maia tries for a takedown but Harris manages to get underhooks.
Harris throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Maia blocks it with crossed arms.
Maia is trying to drag Harris to the mat but Harris just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Maia stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Maia jumps guard but Harris stands there with Maia around his waist. Maia gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Maia is pulling down on Harris's head. It's preventing any offense from Harris, at least for the moment.
Harris has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Harris wants to get up but he can't break Maia's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Maia trying to keep a closed guard but Harris is proving a slippery customer.
Maia manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Harris manages to get himself to full guard.
Harris will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Maia postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Maia throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Harris works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Maia is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Rickson Maia showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Harris is working an open guard so Maia takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Maia closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Maia lands in his opponent's guard.

Rickson Maia is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Despite being in the dominant position, Rickson Maia just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Harris thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Rickson Maia comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Maia winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
