The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hitman closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Hitman is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Southside is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Hitman tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Hitman wants to control but Southside is keeping him busy.

Hitman is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Southside knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Southside tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hitman wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Southside wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hitman keeps working.
Southside seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Hitman is staying active underneath Southside, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

That was a close round but I would say that Aaron Southside will probably get the nod.
