PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hade Wood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Turdang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wood's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Mama Said Knock You Out. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hade Wood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Thomas Turdang!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wood closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Wood lands in his opponent's guard.
Wood advances position into side control!
Turdang gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Turdang tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Wood swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Turdang is now in Wood's guard. A big mistake from Wood there, giving up the dominant position!
Wood looking for a sweep. Not yet Wood, not yet.

Wood looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Turdang puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Wood shoots in for a takedown but Turdang shows good takedown defense.

Wood is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Turdang is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Wood goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Turdang rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Wood's guard! Nice work there by Turdang!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Wood is looking for a triangle but Turdang pushes his legs off easily.
Wood controls Turdang momentarily but Turdang frees himself.

Turdang won't allow Wood to sweep him here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Wood changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Turdang looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Wood working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Turdang parries the strikes from Wood easily there. Wood is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Turdang to escape.
Wood with the ground and pound but Turdang regains half guard under the barage of strikes.

Wood is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Turdang defends it well.

Wood is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Wood wants to pass the guard but Turdang is defending well.
Wood thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Wood wants to pass to mount but Turdang is defending the position.
Wood is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Turdang!

Hade Wood overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Turdang trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Wood is working to get back to half guard.
Turdang can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Wood is looking to escape.
Turdang manages to capitalize on a mistake by Wood to take his back!
Turdang has Wood flattened out and is raining down punches.
Wood tries to escape but Turdang has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Will Turdang go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Wood is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Turdang gets his way!

Wood sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Turdang's guard.

Turdang is refusing to be controlled, as Wood sits in half guard.
Turdang tries to roll over but Wood keeps him under control.
Turdang works his way to full guard. Good work.
Turdang tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Wood trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Turdang looking to control.
Wood looking to sit in guard and control but Turdang gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Turdang pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Wood is keeping the position for now.

Wood is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Turdang wants to control from the top but Wood keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Turdang tries to clinch but Wood moves out of range.

Turdang shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Wood wants to control but Turdang is keeping busy.

A close second round but Thomas Turdang will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

and Turdang counters by moving into the clinch.
Wood drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Turdang gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Turdang tries to score a body lock takedown but Wood shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Wood has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Turdang clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Wood throws a series of strikes and Turdang wriggles onto his back, so he's now mounted. He's in real trouble here.

Wood moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Turdang has worked his arm free - good work by Turdang!

Wood throwing shots but Turdang is blocking nicely.
Turdang is looking to control Wood's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Turdang avoid being mounted?
Still in half guard, Wood seems content to control.
Wood is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Wood is working for a kimura but Turdang is defending it quite comfortably.
The fighters are battling for position here. Turdang manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Wood has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Turdang defend it? Wood steps over the head and cranks it - Turdang is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Wood!
