PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Touchin Bungholz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Katana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Katana has chosen Baby got back as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that James Katana was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Touchin Bungholz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, James Katana!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Daniel Bishop and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Katana scores with a shot to the body.
Bungholz displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Katana throws out the jab.
Katana misses with a hook.
Bungholz shoots in but no luck this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Katana throws a looping overhand right but Bungholz ducks down to avoid it.

Katana throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Bungholz uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Katana.
Bungholz shoots in for a takedown but Katana shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Katana is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Bungholz on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Bungholz bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Katana throws an overhand right that lands on Bungholz's shoulder, as Bungholz tries to avoid the shot.
Bungholz is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Bungholz walks into a stiff left hand from Katana.
Bungholz shoots for a double leg takedown but Katana sprawls well. He's pushed Bungholz's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Touchin Bungholz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Katana looks to land a right hand but Bungholz moved out of range.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Katana misses with a hook.
Katana lands the left hand.
Bungholz tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Katana takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Katana lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Bungholz looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Katana!

Bungholz wants to take Katana's back here but Katana is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

Bungholz wants to finish this one by submission but Katana is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Bungholz.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Katana really wants to buck Bungholz off and get back to his feet.
Bungholz blocks Katana's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

Bungholz has hold of Katana's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Katana manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Katana is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Bungholz seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Katana is holding on tight.
Katana is trying to stand.
Bungholz blocks Katana's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Katana squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Bungholz fails to take his opponent's back.
Katana wants to use the ropes to get back to his feet here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Bungholz is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Katana to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Katana shrugs it off.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Katana can do anything to dispel that myth.
Katana is trying to get to the ropes to help him get back to his feet.
Katana is wriggling around trying to escape.

Bungholz working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Katana looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Bungholz! Submission of the night perhaps?

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Touchin Bungholz!
