PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Noah CD (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Noah CD will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chuck Liddell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Noah CD!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
CD misses with a body kick.
CD misses with a body kick.
CD misses with a looping right.
Liddell tries to bum rush CD with a series of wild strikes but CD uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A head kick misses from CD.
CD throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
CD shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Liddell looks to land a combination but CD avoids it well.
CD throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Liddell.
CD tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Liddell scores with a punch to the head.
A jab-cross combination lands for Liddell and sends CD crashing to the mat! Liddell follows him down to the mat - CD regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!


CD is rocked!
CD has hold of Liddell's hands but Liddell slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
CD is still in real trouble! Can Liddell finish him?
This has been an exciting period of action!
Liddell thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed CD's head.

Liddell looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Liddell sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. CD defending well though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Liddell thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Liddell throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Liddell not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Liddell tries to pass the half guard into mount. CD knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Liddell thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed CD's head.
CD seems to have recovered his senses.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Liddell swats away the attempt to clinch by CD.
CD throws a sloppy head kick and Liddell moves out of range easily.
Liddell on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by CD. CD obviously looking to wear him down.
Liddell will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
CD tries to clinch there but Liddell circles away.
CD tries to clinch up.
Liddell avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
CD throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
CD swings away with a leg kick that misses.
CD misses with a hook

and Liddell counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
CD is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Liddell's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Liddell's back!
CD looks gassed!
Liddell just trying to survive but CD is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
CD trying to control momentarily.
Liddell can't escape the position.
Liddell rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Liddell manages to get to full guard.
CD looking to sit in guard and control but Liddell gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Liddell is pushing down on CD's leg trying to pass to half guard. CD is fighting to maintain full guard but Liddell has managed to sneak the leg through.
CD really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Liddell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Liddell wants to free his trapped foot but CD is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Liddell throwing shots but CD is blocking nicely.
Liddell looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Liddell is looking for a kimura but CD is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Liddell to get the leverage.
CD has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Liddell is working away from the top position though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
CD is trying to stand up here but Liddell is controlling him well.
Liddell trying to control from half guard but CD is working away.
CD trying to control from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
CD pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Noah CD seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
CD throws a leg kick

and Liddell counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Liddell is looking to work some ground and pound but CD has wrist control.
CD is looking to stand up but Liddell isn't so interested in that idea.
CD is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
CD stalling.
Liddell won't allow CD to pass to mount.
CD is looking to stall here but Liddell recovers full guard.
CD wants to control from the top but Liddell keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Liddell is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
CD would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Liddell will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Liddell has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Liddell fails to land with a series of punches.
CD clinches but Liddell breaks the clinch
and Liddell counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
CD thows a leg kick but Liddell checks it
and Liddell counters with a nice leg kick.
CD misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
CD doesn't manage to clinch there - Liddell circles away.

Liddell looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Liddell connects with a nice short shot to CD's temple.
CD pushes Liddell off looking to stand but Liddell dives back in and keeps control.
Liddell missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chuck Liddell dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Liddell shoots in but CD avoids the takedown attempt easily.
CD throws a leg kick
and Liddell counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Liddell scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
CD thows a leg kick but Liddell checks it
and Liddell counters with a three punch combo that has CD backing up. CD nods at Liddell to acknowledge the strikes.
CD ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Liddell moves away.
CD misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Liddell drops CD with a left and a right! Oh, CD is hurt - Liddell dives into side control looking to finish!
Liddell cracks CD with a big right hand but CD just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
CD is looking to regain half guard here but Liddell keeps moving and retains side control.
Liddell scores with punches from side control.
CD taking a bit of punishment here - Liddell scoring with strikes.

Liddell is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. CD knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Liddell misses with the ground and pound.
CD takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Liddell lands a decent elbow from side control.
Liddell cracks CD with a big elbow.

That's one minute gone in the round.

CD is breathing heavily.
Liddell working the body and head with strikes.

Liddell wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by CD, who protects the arm well.
Liddell scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at CD to see if he's OK.
CD is trying to buck Liddell off.
Liddell tries to move to mount but CD blocks the move with his legs.
Chuck Liddell overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
CD wants to get back to his feet but Liddell drags him back down.
Liddell in side control, throwing shots but CD defends.
Liddell trying to control the action but CD is working from the bottom.
CD tries to escape but Liddell is in control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
CD throws a lazy head kick

and Liddell shoots in for a double leg counter - driving through into a slam and CD is out! The slam has knocked him out cold! Devastating for CD but Liddell is celebrating as the crowd goes wild!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Slam). Chuck Liddell!
