Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Madden Rush (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hoyt Jurgensen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jurgensen has chosen Sgt Barry Sadler - Ballad of the Green Beret as his entrance music. Madden Rush could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Hoyt Jurgensen's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice defenses there by Jurgensen.

Rush shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Jurgensen is desperately trying to improve his position but Rush has a good base and remains in mount.

Rush stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Rush punishes Jurgensen's body with a nice straight punch.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Jurgensen checks a leg kick.
Rush ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jurgensen moves away.

Rush lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Rush throws the kick towards the body but Jurgensen avoids it.

Rush drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rush jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Jurgensen seems to have recovered his senses.
Jurgensen can't keep his opponent in guard - Rush advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rush is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Rush stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Rush throws a sloppy head kick and Jurgensen moves out of range easily.

Jurgensen wants to improve his position but Rush is controlling well.

Rush is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jurgensen defends it well.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Rush is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jurgensen is just riding it out for now. Rush eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Rush thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Rush passes the guard and advances to mount!
Rush misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Jurgensen is trying to escape the mount.

Rush is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Jurgensen can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Rush has the hooks in. Jurgensen is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Rush is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Jurgensen defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Jurgensen manages to reverse the position and now he's in Rush's guard. Nice work there by Jurgensen.

Jurgensen escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rush gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Well Rush has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
