PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Freixo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carwin Brock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Freixo kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Disturbed - Down with the Sickness. The crowd seem to be enjoying Brock's choice of entrance music: eminem not afraid. Carwin Brock is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brock fails with the takedown.
Brock closes the distance and clinches up with Freixo, looking for a takedown. Brock pushes Freixo against the ropes but Freixo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Brock is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Freixo gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Brock counters by clinching up.
Freixo lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Miguel Freixo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carwin Brock.
Brock fakes the leg kick and cracks Freixo in the body.
Freixo throws a left and a right that both miss

and Brock counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Freixo changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Brock fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Nice takedown defense from Brock. No joy for Freixo on that attempt.

Brock closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Brock thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Freixo is working an open guard so Brock takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Freixo decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Brock is looking for a sweep. Freixo is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Freixo stops Brock from getting back to his feet.

Freixo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Freixo misses with a looping left.

Freixo throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Brock was covering up waiting for the punch and Freixo finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Brock is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Freixo is aware though and is defending well.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Freixo wanted to stand there but Brock had control of the position.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Brock throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.

Freixo shoots in but Brock avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Freixo throws a nice looking combination but Brock bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Freixo circles away from the clinch attempt.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Freixo blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Brock wants to break free but Freixo has control.
Brock tries to circle away but Freixo has him pinned against the ropes.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Freixo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Freixo closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Brock did well to prevent Freixo getting side control.

Freixo is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Brock is on top in guard.

Brock feints and as Freixo raises his hands in defense, Brock changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Freixo wants to sweep but no luck.

Freixo misses with a head kick.
Brock moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Miguel Freixo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Brock gets a clinch.

Brock breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Freixo swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

so Brock counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Brock drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Freixo manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Brock has Freixo in his guard.

Brock has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Freixo should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Brock has tightened it up now! Freixo should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
