PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Danny Lynch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luke Wade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Luke Wade told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Danny Lynch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Luke Wade!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Daniel Bishop and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wade has a takedown stuffed.
Lynch swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Lynch doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Wade counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Lynch tries to kick Wade off but Wade keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Wade is pressing down on Lynch's thigh, looking to free his foot. Lynch is holding on for now.
Lynch is trying to stand up here but Wade is controlling him well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lynch kicks off Wade and gets to his feet.
Lynch throws a right and a left that Wade avoids nicely.

and Wade counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Lynch!

Wade goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Lynch is on top in guard.

Wade throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Lynch escapes and throws Wade's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Lynch thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Wade takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Lynch throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Lynch missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Wade is not content to let Lynch control the position.
Wade trying to hold on to Lynch's head to control him but Lynch postures up.
Wade moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Lynch with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Wade is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Wade has his foot on Lynch's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lynch works his way back into a safe position though.

Lynch got a little sloppy there for a moment and Wade has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lynch has managed to get both his arms back between Wade's legs - danger averted.

Lynch can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Wade is looking to escape.

Wade stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lynch swivels though and keeps the full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Lynch wants to get back to his feet but Wade drags him back down.

Wade is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Lynch knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

That was a close second round but I would say that Danny Lynch will probably get the nod.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Luke Wade comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Wade has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
