PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chasen Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John train (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Chasen Taylor has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Chasen Taylor seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John train!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Frank Dennis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

train gets a takedown into half guard.
train content to control rather than advance.
Taylor is looking to improve his position.
Taylor is working hard here to advance position.
Taylor trying to control but train postures up.
train is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

That's one minute gone in the round.
train not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Taylor wants to improve his position but train is controlling well.
Well, if train is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Nice takedown defense from Taylor. No joy for train on that attempt.
train shoots in and drives through. Taylor sprawls well.
train throws a series of punches but Taylor moves out of range.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

and train counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by train.
Taylor looking to hit a scissor sweep but train is one step ahead there.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with train in particular looking to stall.
Let's hope that train has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

train wants to free his trapped foot but Taylor is holding on for dear life with his legs.
train slows the pace down in half guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Taylor is controlling train's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Taylor knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for train on the ground.
Taylor wants to control but train is keeping busy and won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John train dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

train closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Taylor is in trouble now - train has advanced to mount!
train scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Taylor is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

train has hold of Taylor's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Taylor manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Taylor tries to lock up and control but train gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

train controlling his opponent.
train prevents Taylor from getting the reversal.

train is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Taylor is surviving well by controlling train's body position as best he can.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Taylor avoids a strike by train and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in train's guard! Fantastic escape!

train wants to sweep but no luck.

train utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Taylor trying to control the position from guard on top but train is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Taylor has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
train is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The fighters are battling for position here. Taylor manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
train slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Taylor not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
train content to stall in guard here.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John train showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Taylor is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Despite being in the dominant position, John train just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Taylor fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but train avoids it really well and circles away.
train tries to clinch but Taylor is having none of it.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Taylor shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Taylor was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
train is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Taylor lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Taylor throws some wild stikes that train manages to avoid easily.
train tries to hold on but Taylor postures up.
train might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Taylor kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Taylor thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
train blocking the ground and pound.
train is bucking up trying to escape but Taylor cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
train is desperately trying to improve his position but Taylor has a good base and remains in mount.
train tries to hold on but Taylor postures up.
Taylor throwing strikes here but train is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
train is squirming around, avoiding Taylor's attempts to control the action.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Taylor throws a wild left hand from mount and train manages to wriggle his way back to half guard.
Taylor is looking to advance position but train won't allow it.
Chasen Taylor has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
train misses with the combination.

train darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Taylor is defending against the submission attempts here by train.

And that's the end of the fight!
John train comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well train has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
