Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Quinn Marion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Abe Jefferson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marion comes to the cage accompanied by Jay-Z - Welcome to New York City. Abe Jefferson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Quinn Marion!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Abe Jefferson!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Chad Campbell and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Marion closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Jefferson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Marion is working away from the top position though.
Jefferson is looking to improve his position.

Marion is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Jefferson sees it coming and defends easily.

Jefferson kicks Marion off and gets back to his feet.

Marion decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Jefferson is trying to control but Marion manages to pass to mount!
Jefferson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Jefferson is looking to improve his position but Marion isn't that keen on the idea.

Marion looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Jefferson is desperately trying to improve his position but Marion has a good base and remains in mount.

Marion wants to finish this one by submission but Jefferson is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Marion.
Jefferson tries to hold on but Marion postures up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Marion looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Jefferson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Marion can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jefferson is looking to escape.

Marion swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Jefferson is now in Marion's guard. A big mistake from Marion there, giving up the dominant position!

Jefferson trying to control but Marion is working from the bottom.
Jefferson tries to free his leg and advance position but Marion is retaining full guard.

Marion looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Jefferson passes into side control.
Marion manages to get back to half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Marion is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jefferson pulls his head out easily.
Jefferson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Marion's head.

Marion looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Jefferson wants to stand up but Marion has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Marion is refusing to be controlled, as Jefferson sits in half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Quinn Marion dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Jefferson swinging wildly here.

Marion throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jefferson was covering up waiting for the punch and Marion finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Jefferson controls Marion momentarily but Marion frees himself.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Marion drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Jefferson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Marion has Jefferson in his guard.

Jefferson cracks Marion with a solid left hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jefferson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Marion is keeping the position for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Marion has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jefferson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Marion avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jefferson pushing down on Marion's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Jefferson tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Jefferson is keen to just control but Marion is a slippery customer.

Jefferson is trying to control. Marion wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Marion has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jefferson is working away from the top position though.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Marion shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jefferson as he jumps to the side.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Jefferson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Marion's guard.
Jefferson is in close to Marion's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Jefferson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Marion has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jefferson has managed to get both his arms back between Marion's legs - danger averted.

Jefferson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Marion is proving hard to escape from.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Abe Jefferson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Jefferson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Marion is just holding on here. Jefferson manages to take his back.
I really don't envy Marion right now.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Jefferson is persistently looking for the submission but Marion is defending it well.
Marion wants to control his opponent's hands but Jefferson gets his hands free.
Marion is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Jefferson trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Marion trying to control the position but Jefferson manages to sink in the hooks.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jefferson controls the position.

Jefferson is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Marion is defending well though. Jefferson let's go of the attempt for now.

Jefferson is looking for a choke. Marion gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Marion manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.
Marion controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Jefferson wants to stand but Marion is controlling the position.
Jefferson controls Marion momentarily but Marion frees himself.
Jefferson wants to stand and escape but Marion is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jefferson looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Jefferson trying to keep a closed guard but Marion is proving a slippery customer.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Jefferson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Jefferson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Marion's guard.
Jefferson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Marion is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jefferson defends well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Marion is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jefferson is aware though and is defending well.

And that's the end of the fight!
Abe Jefferson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jefferson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
