PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bengui Sudo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jefferson Delgado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Delgado has chosen Darude - Sandstorm as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bengui Sudo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jefferson Delgado!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Mauricio Rocha and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sudo throws a jab but it's blocked by Delgado.
Sudo swats away the attempt to clinch by Delgado.
Delgado looks for a takedown but Sudo sprawls well.

Delgado shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sudo as he avoids it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Delgado shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sudo as he jumps to the side.
Bengui Sudo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jefferson Delgado.

Sudo closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Sudo takes a little break here. Delgado wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Sudo looks up at the clock and then as Delgado takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Sudo smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Sudo decides to stand up, so the ref orders Delgado to his feet.
Jefferson Delgado seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Delgado misses with a takedown

and Sudo counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Sudo.
Sudo would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Sudo is breathing heavily.

Sudo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Delgado swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and Sudo counters with a single leg into guard. Delgado didn't expect that.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Sudo shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Sudo was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Delgado is desperately trying to improve his position but Sudo has a good base and remains in mount.
Sudo can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Delgado is looking to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sudo goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Delgado is on top in guard.

Delgado wants to control from the top but Sudo keeps moving.

Sudo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Delgado doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Delgado manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

and Sudo counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Delgado's guard now.
Sudo has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Delgado is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Sudo throws a right hand that Delgado ducks under and follows up with a left that Delgado also avoids with ease.
Sudo does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Delgado is looking to clinch.

Sudo closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Sudo uses his free foot to push down on Delgado's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Delgado.
Delgado is working to get back to half guard.
Sudo scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Delgado?
Sudo looking to control but Delgado is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Delgado takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Delgado is rocked!
Delgado has given up his back.
Delgado is still in real trouble! Can Sudo finish him?
Sudo cracks Delgado with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Delgado from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

Sudo looking to break Delgado's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Delgado remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Sudo will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Sudo is persistently looking for the submission but Delgado is defending it well.
Delgado manages to reverse the position and now he's in Sudo's guard. Nice work there by Delgado.

Sudo had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Delgado is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Sudo Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Delgado's back instead.

Sudo is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Delgado has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Delgado rolls, trying to escape but Sudo keeps control of the position.

Sudo lands shots from the back.

Sudo is working for a rear naked choke. Delgado is not defending it well and Sudo has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Delgado refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Delgado's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Bengui Sudo!
