Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nick Bako (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Salcedo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Bako.
Bako comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Salcedo looks for a takedown but Bako sprawls well.

Bako closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Salcedo drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Bako gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Bako breaks from the clinch.
Bako throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Salcedo has eaten all the pies!

Salcedo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bako can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Bako has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Salcedo is proving hard to escape from.

Salcedo had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Bako is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Salcedo Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Bako's back instead.

Bako rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Salcedo is pressing down on Bako's thigh, looking to free his foot. Bako is holding on for now.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Salcedo looks for a takedown but Bako sprawls well.
Nick Bako has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Salcedo.
Bako shoots for a takedown but Salcedo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Bako is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Salcedo.

Salcedo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Bako wants to control but Salcedo is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Bako is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Salcedo jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Bako is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Bako and Salcedo has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Bako knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Salcedo on the ground.

Salcedo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Salcedo has control of Bako's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Bako regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Bako shoots in but Salcedo avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Salcedo misses with a takedown attempt - Bako sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Salcedo fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bako sprawls well initially but Salcedo persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Salcedo is looking for the choke from the back position but Bako is controlling his hands well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bako breaks Salcedo's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Salcedo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
