Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Shizuka Uesugi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arnaud Savage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Savage has chosen BLUNT- "The Iron Maiden" as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Uesugi.
Uesugi stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Savage.
Savage scores with a leg kick.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Savage.
Uesugi dives in and grabs Savage's left leg, looking for a takedown. Savage pushes down on Uesugi's head and hops out.
Shizuka Uesugi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice sprawl there from Savage as Uesugi shoots in.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shizuka Uesugi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Uesugi is trying hard to land a takedown here. Savage sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Savage dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Uesugi. That did some damage!

Savage passes to side control.
Savage works to advance to full mount. Uesugi defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Savage landing strikes from the mount.
Savage has hold of Uesugi's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Uesugi manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Savage is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Uesugi to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Uesugi shrugs it off.
Savage works his way to his opponent's back.

Uesugi turns into Savage and is now in his guard.

Uesugi throws a big right hand that misses.
Uesugi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Savage swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Savage can't keep his opponent in guard - Uesugi advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Savage slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Savage is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Uesugi works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Uesugi passes the guard and advances to mount!

Savage can't escape the position.
Savage is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Savage slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Uesugi is working for a kimura but Savage is defending it quite comfortably.
Uesugi passes the guard and advances to mount!
Savage regains half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Uesugi tries to pass the half guard into mount. Savage knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Savage thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Uesugi if he has to take too many more of those.

Savage wants to pass to mount but Uesugi is defending the position.

Savage must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Uesugi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Savage tries to pass to full mount but Uesugi defends it.
Savage is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Uesugi sees it coming and defends easily.

Savage is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Uesugi defends it well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Uesugi is looking for a triangle but Savage pushes his legs off easily.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Uesugi is on top in guard.

Uesugi has gone for a leg lock! Savage slips out almost immediately though and dives into Uesugi's guard.
Uesugi wants to hit a switch here but Savage passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Uesugi there!

Savage is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Savage!
