Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Seppo Susikasi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maddy Rock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Seppo Susikasi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Maddy Rock!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Susikasi moves away from the strike by Rock.
Susikasi tries to bum rush Rock with a series of wild strikes but Rock uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Susikasi shoots in for a takedown but Rock shows good takedown defense.
No joy there for Susikasi, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Susikasi closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Susikasi is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Susikasi trying to control the action but Rock is working from the bottom.
Rock prevents Susikasi from improving position.
Susikasi with the ground and pound but Rock regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Rock is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Susikasi's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Susikasi's back!
Rock doesn't have the hooks in and Susikasi manages to turn into his guard.

Rock looking to hit a scissor sweep but Susikasi is one step ahead there.
Rock pulls Susikasi in to control the position.

Rock is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Susikasi tries to free his leg and advance position but Rock is retaining full guard.
Susikasi wants to control from the top but Rock keeps moving.
Susikasi prevents Rock from getting back to his feet.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

The referee calls for Susikasi to work.

Rock pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Susikasi uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rock.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Susikasi swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Rock makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Rock pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Susikasi keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Rock.
The fighters circling - Rock throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Susikasi avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Rock.
Rock tries to work over Susikasi's front leg with a kick but Susikasi checks it.
Susikasi moves out of range of the body kick.
Rock showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Susikasi.
Rock looks to land a right hand but Susikasi moved out of range.
Rock thows a body shot but no joy.
Susikasi defending well as Rock loads up on a big left hand.
Susikasi connects with the punch.
Maddy Rock seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rock throws a body punch but Susikasi moves out of range.
Susikasi bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Susikasi lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Rock backs up against the cage.
Susikasi keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Rock.

Susikasi is trying to stall.
Susikasi struggles to land a body shot inside as Rock controls his hands.
Rock wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Susikasi has him pressed against the cage.
Susikasi lands a nice shot to the body.
Rock stops a takedown attempt from Susikasi.
Susikasi goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Rock is trying to break the clinch but Susikasi is controlling him.
Susikasi is trying to drag Rock to the mat but Rock just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Seppo Susikasi. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Rock is trying to force a seperation but Susikasi has the dominant position.

Susikasi tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Rock smiles and moves away.
Nice straight punches there by Rock. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Rock.
A jab from Rock finds it's way through Susikasi's defenses.

Susikasi throws a sloppy body shot
and Rock counters with a stiff right hand.
Susikasi looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rock is fending him off so far but Susikasi persists. Nope, Rock circles away and we're back to standing.
Susikasi throws a body punch but Rock moves out of range.
Rock throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Rock misses with a hook. Susikasi ducked under it nicely.
Susikasi swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Rock.
Rock misses with the combination.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Seppo Susikasi will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Rock throws a looping overhand right but Susikasi ducks down to avoid it.
Susikasi thows a body shot but no joy.
Rock looks to score with a jab to the body but Susikasi is just out of range.
Rock scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Rock buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Rock throws a sloppy body shot
and Rock takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Susikasi closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Susikasi has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Rock!

Rock suckers Susikasi into throwing a sloppy strike and uses the momentum to reverse the position beautifully! Rock is now in Susikasi's guard!
Susikasi looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Susikasi looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Rock stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Susikasi swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Susikasi is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Susikasi wants to sweep but no luck.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Susikasi is looking for a triangle but Rock pushes his legs off easily.
Susikasi not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Susikasi has his foot on Rock's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rock works his way back into a safe position though.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Rock connects with a nice short shot to Susikasi's temple.

Rock can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Susikasi is looking to escape.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rock controlling his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Susikasi jabs Rock right on the nose. Rock blinks but takes it well.

Susikasi throws a lazy right hand but Rock sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Susikasi shoots for a double leg takedown but Rock sprawls well. He's pushed Susikasi's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Maddy Rock has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Rock swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Rock takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Rock throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Susikasi stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Rock throws a hook but Susikasi blocks it.
Rock throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A combination from Susikasi does no damage.

Susikasi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rock as he avoids it easily.

and Rock connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Susikasi takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Rock jabbing away but nothing is landing.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Seppo Susikasi.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Susikasi, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
