The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
JUNIOR shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Takinoshi shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in JUNIOR's guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and JUNIOR decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Takinoshi's guard.

JUNIOR sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Takinoshi's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

JUNIOR is really struggling to control Takinoshi but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
JUNIOR drops back looking for a leg! Takinoshi is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Takinoshi manages to kick JUNIOR off! JUNIOR jumps back into Takinoshi's guard.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

JUNIOR is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
JUNIOR has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
CANALHA JUNIOR has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kana Takinoshi is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
