PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mick Dolan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dolan's entrance music is Shipping Up to Boston. A fine choice. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Carlos Carter was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mick Dolan!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Carlos Carter!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Chris Edwards and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dolan but Dolan pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Carter counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carter slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Dolan trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Carter wants to control from the top but Dolan keeps moving.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dolan is on top in guard.

Carter can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Dolan controls the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dolan wants to control from the top but Carter keeps moving.

Carter is looking for a triangle but Dolan pushes his legs off easily.

Dolan wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Carter, who protects the arm well.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Dolan passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Carter!
Dolan wants to control the pace but Carter is squirming around nicely.

Dolan is breathing heavily.

Dolan is working for a guillotine from mount but Carter frees his head quite easily.

Dolan seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Carter is holding on tight.
Carter gets back to half guard.
Carter tries to roll over but Dolan keeps him under control.
Dolan missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Carter has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Dolan is working away from the top position though.
Carter is doing well to control the position and prevent Dolan from advancing to side control.
Carter is pressing down on Dolan's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Carter wants to sweep but no luck.

Carter managing to control the position.
Let's hope that Carter has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Despite being in the dominant position, Carlos Carter just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Carter shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dolan as he avoids it easily.

Mick Dolan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carlos Carter.

and Carter counters with a single leg into guard. Dolan didn't expect that.

Carter decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Dolan, up you get!

Carter stands up over Dolan, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Dolan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Carter doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Carter manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carlos Carter dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Dolan is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Dolan is squirming around, avoiding Carter's attempts to control the action.

Dolan is not content to let Carter control the position.

Carter thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Dolan's head.
Carter prevents Dolan from improving his position.
Dolan is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Carter's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Carter's back!

Carter won't enjoy being in this position. Dolan looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Carter is tapping - it's over boys! Dolan picks up the submission victory!
