PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Demolidor Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mo Kendo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Demolidor Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mo Kendo!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kendo shoots in for a takedown but Silva shows good takedown defense.

Kendo closes the distance and clinches.
Silva working hard to break the clinch.
Kendo has Silva pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Silva manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Silva is trying to force a seperation but Kendo has the dominant position.
Kendo looking for a takedown.
Demolidor Silva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mo Kendo.

Kendo has picked Silva up - he's going for a ride! Kendo dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Kendo not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Kendo seems to be working for a kimura but Silva defends the submission attempt.
Kendo has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Silva tries to hold on but Kendo postures up.

Kendo throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Kendo looking to secure an arm triangle but Silva defends it well.

Silva looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

Kendo looking for the choke but no joy.
Kendo thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.

Silva defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Kendo's arms.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kendo is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kendo has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Silva has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Kendo is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Silva is defending well though. Kendo let's go of the attempt for now.
Kendo gets his hands free as Silva looks to control.

Kendo is hanging on to Silva's back as he tries to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Silva defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Kendo's arms.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Silva is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mo Kendo dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Kendo tries for a takedown but Silva sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Silva fails with an attempt to clinch.
Silva lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kendo circles away quickly and effectively.
Silva looks to score with a jab to the body but Kendo is just out of range.
Kendo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Kendo shoots in for a takedown but Silva shows good takedown defense.
Demolidor Silva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mo Kendo.
Silva rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kendo moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Silva tries to close the distance and clinch but Kendo swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Silva shoots and misses

and Kendo counters with a takedown into side control.

Kendo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Kendo working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

The ground and pound from Kendo seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Mo Kendo has got the better of the ground game so far.
Kendo is breathing heavily.
Silva struggling a bit here.
Kendo looks up at the clock and then as Silva takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Kendo smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Silva is looking to regain half guard here but Kendo keeps moving and retains side control.
Silva is not content to let Kendo control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Kendo is trying to get an arm triangle but Silva is defending well.
Silva can't do much from the bottom here.
Kendo lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Silva regains half guard, as Kendo was trying to land strikes.

Kendo is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Silva tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Kendo manages to move to mount!

Kendo has hold of Silva's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Silva manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Kendo is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Silva to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Silva shrugs it off.
Kendo with shots to the head and body - Silva looks very uncomfortable down there.
Silva tries to lock up and control but Kendo gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Kendo working for a submission but Silva is keeping him at bay.
Silva wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mo Kendo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Kendo doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Silva counters with a single leg into guard. Kendo didn't expect that.

Kendo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Silva defends well.
Kendo trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

Kendo looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Kendo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Silva trying to control the position from guard on top but Kendo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Kendo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Silva gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Kendo is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Kendo wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Silva is now in half guard.
Silva prevents Kendo from improving his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Silva wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kendo keeps working.
Kendo is looking for a sweep. Silva is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Silva trying to control from half guard but Kendo is working away.
Kendo trying to hold on to Silva's head to control him but Silva postures up.
Kendo is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Silva is staying active.
Silva knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kendo on the ground.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Silva tries to clinch up.
Silva wants to land a leg kick but Kendo is out of range.

Kendo shoots in and bounces Silva off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Kendo throws a big right hand that misses.
Kendo is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Kendo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kendo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Silva avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Kendo prevents Silva from getting back to his feet.

Demolidor Silva has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mo Kendo is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Kendo trying to control the position from guard on top but Silva is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mo Kendo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Kendo winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
