The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, John Mangel and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slapping leg kick lands for Champ.
Smiley avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Smiley lunges at Champ with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Champ's hand.
Steven Champ seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Champ shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Smiley as he avoids it easily.
Champ scores with a leg kick.
Smiley looks gassed!
Champ wants to clinch.
Champ throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Smiley keeps the fight on the outside.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
A nice leg kick lands there from Champ.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Champ doesn't manage to clinch there - Smiley circles away.
Champ tries to clinch up.
Smiley avoids the head kick by Champ.
Champ wants to clinch up but Smiley keeps it at a distance.
No joy there for Smiley, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Champ keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Smiley.
Smiley looks to throw the jab but Champ is out of range.
Smiley misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Smiley tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Champ rushes Smiley and presses him up against the cage.
Champ lands an elbow that stopped Smiley in his tracks for a moment.
Champ crunches a lovely knee into Smiley's ribcage.
Knees to the body from Champ.
Champ breaks the clinch.

Champ fails in his attempt to clinch.
Champ throws a head kick but Smiley moves out of range.
Smiley tries to keep at a distance but Champ has taken the fight into the clinch.
Champ manages to pull guard.
Smiley throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Champ seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Smiley trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Champ wants to sweep here but Smiley controlling him for the moment.
Smiley avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Champ working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Smiley.
Smiley tries to free his leg and advance position but Champ is retaining full guard.
Smiley stopping the sweep attempt from Champ.
Smiley controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Smiley wants to control from the top but Champ keeps moving.
Smiley looking to improve position, pressing down on Champ's thigh with his hand. Champ seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Smiley paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Smiley's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Champ picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
