Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rollo Smek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ian Muirhead (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rollo Smek!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ian Muirhead!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slapping body kick lands there for Smek.

Smek looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Muirhead!
Smek with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.

Smek looking for a guillotine from mount but Muirhead is having none of it.
Smek trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Muirhead holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Smek tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Smek can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Muirhead is looking to escape.
Muirhead is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Muirhead bucks Smek off and manages to get back to his feet!
Muirhead fails with an attempt to clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Muirhead tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Smek paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Smek avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Smek has closed the distance and engaged Muirhead in a clinch.
Muirhead is looking to control Smek's arms but Smek gets an underhook and turns him. Now Muirhead has his back to the cage.

Smek jumps guard and drags Muirhead to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Muirhead wants to control from the top but Smek keeps moving.
Muirhead might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Smek kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Muirhead pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Smek is keeping the position for now.

Smek is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Muirhead is controlling him.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Smek throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Muirhead tries to clinch but Smek moves away

and Smek counters with a nice double leg into side control. Muirhead won't be happy with that.

Smek decides to stand back up.
Muirhead closes the distance but Smek moves to the side

and Smek counters by moving into the clinch.
Smek on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Smek breaks from the clinch.
Smek looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Muirhead looks to clinch

and Smek holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Muirhead misses with some punches.

Smek has hold of one of Muirhead's legs. Muirhead is fighting the takedown attempt but Smek gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Smek wants to control from the top but Muirhead keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rollo Smek dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Smek fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Muirhead looks to clinch
and Smek counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Smek changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Muirhead tries to avoid it but Smek manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Muirhead to the ground. Muirhead escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ian Muirhead seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A head kick misses from Smek.

Smek gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Smek pulls Muirhead into guard.
Smek keeping moving, preventing Muirhead from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smek is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Smek is pulling down on Muirhead's head. It's preventing any offense from Muirhead, at least for the moment.

Smek is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Muirhead tries for a takedown but Smek manages to get underhooks.

Smek has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Muirhead regains guard immediately.

Smek postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Muirhead is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Smek, into his guard.

Smek controls Muirhead momentarily but Muirhead frees himself.

Smek wants to stand but Muirhead is controlling the position.

Muirhead thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Muirhead stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smek swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Muirhead must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Smek is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Muirhead closes the distance but Smek moves to the side

and Smek counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Smek is just content to waste time from the top position. Muirhead takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Smek wants to control from the top but Muirhead keeps moving.
Muirhead keeping full guard, as Smek tries to pass.
Smek forces his way into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rollo Smek dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Rollo Smek is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Muirhead has taken the fight to the clinch.
Smek drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Muirhead gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Muirhead is trying to maintain a safe position but Smek gets an underhook and turns Muirhead into the cage.

and Smek counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Rollo Smek is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Muirhead is looking to stand up but Smek isn't so interested in that idea.

Smek tries to free his leg and advance position but Muirhead is retaining full guard.

Muirhead is working an open guard so Smek takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Smek shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Muirhead as he jumps to the side.
