PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pietro Rava (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Jason Ama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rava comes to the ring accompanied by Blue October - Drilled a Wire through my cheek. Ama has chosen Hallelujah as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Paul Jason Ama enters the ring!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pietro Rava!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Paul Jason Ama!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Albert Achterberg and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rava scores with a takedown into Ama's guard.
Ama looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Rava is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Ama keeping moving, preventing Rava from controlling successfully.
Ama is trying to control the position but Rava postures up.
Rava pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ama is keeping the position for now.
Rava stays in close to Ama's body and controls the position.
Rava wants to control from the top but Ama keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ama throws a right and a left that Rava avoids nicely.
Rava shoots for a double leg takedown but Ama sprawls well. He's pushed Rava's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Ama tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Ama keeps the fight on the outside.
A head kick from Rava lands but Ama takes it in his stride.

Rava clinches up against the ropes.
Ama wants to get back to striking at distance but Rava won't allow it.

Rava breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Rava looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ama is fending him off so far but Rava persists. Nope, Ama circles away and we're back to standing.

It looks like Paul Jason Ama has been cut.

Rava ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Ama avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ama takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Rava shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ama defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pietro Rava. That's going to take a lot out of him.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Rava is trying to control the action in half guard but Ama is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Rava seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ama does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Rava is working for a kimura but Ama is defending it quite comfortably.
Rava is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Rava's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Rava shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

and Ama counters with a nice body kick.

Rava shoots for a double leg takedown but Ama sprawls well. He's pushed Rava's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Ama is trying to improve his position.
Rava misses with the ground and pound.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Rava wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ama, who protects the arm well.

Rava has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Rava tries to clinch there but Ama circles away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ama moves out of range of the body kick.
Rava wants to clinch up but Ama keeps it at a distance.
Rava avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Pietro Rava seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rava fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Rava throws a right and a left that Ama avoids nicely.

Rava shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Rava pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Rava takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Rava tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Rava tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ama swivels and escapes.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Rava lands a right hook to the body.
Rava shoots in and drives through. Ama sprawls well.
Pietro Rava is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ama swats away the attempt to clinch by Rava.
Rava lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Ama stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ama wants it to stay on the feet.
Rava goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Good leg kick by Rava there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

That's time! Rava's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Rava takes the fight into the clinch.
Rava can't get the takedown.
Rava changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Ama fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Rava changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ama tries to avoid it but Rava manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ama to the ground. Ama escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Rava looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Ama circles away from the clinch attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rava closes the distance and clinches up with Ama, looking for a takedown. Rava pushes Ama against the ropes but Ama circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Ama counters with a head kick. That will keep Rava thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Rava lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Rava tries to clinch but Ama is having none of it.

Ama is staying active underneath Rava, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Rava is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Ama is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Rava bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Rava content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Rava prevents Ama from escaping the position.
Rava wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ama keeps working.
Rava lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Ama down.

Ama is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Rava is controlling him well.
Rava cracks Ama with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Paul Jason Ama has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Rava connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Ama some visible discomfort.
Rava is looking to take a break and control but Ama is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ama trying to control but Rava flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!

And that's the end of the fight!
Pietro Rava showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Rava has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
