The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santiero defending well as Newman loads up on a big left hand.
Santiero avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Santiero fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Santiero changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Newman tries to avoid it but Santiero manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Newman to the ground. Newman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Santiero drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Newman manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Santiero has Newman in his guard.
