Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ray Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Brutus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Williams comes into the arena with No More Mr. Nice Guy blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ray Williams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcus Brutus!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Jorge Garcia and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Brutus or perhaps it was just good defense by Williams which made him look bad.
A slow jab from Williams misses its intended target.
Williams misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Williams misses with a hook. Brutus ducked under it nicely.
Brutus keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Brutus looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Williams fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Brutus manages to avoid it.
Williams missing with a left hand there. Brutus was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
The fighters circling - Williams throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Ray Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brutus uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Williams.

Brutus fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Williams sprawls well initially but Brutus persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Brutus gets to his feet. Williams looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Brutus drops his hands momentarily and Williams takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Brutus shoots in but no luck this time.

No joy there for Williams, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Brutus closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Brutus wants to lay and pray for a moment but Williams keeps working.
Brutus lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Williams down.
Williams wants to get back to his feet but Brutus drags him back down.

Williams is pushing Brutus's head away, looking to escape. Brutus manages to hold on to the position though.

Brutus working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Brutus is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Williams will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Williams slaps away a takedown attempt from Brutus, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Williams thows a body shot but no joy.
Williams fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Brutus takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Brutus throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Williams was covering up waiting for the punch and Brutus finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Williams is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Brutus throws and elbow that misses. Williams uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Brutus's guard. Nice move by Williams!

Brutus changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Williams tries to avoid it but Brutus manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Williams to the ground. Williams escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Williams misses with an uppercut. Brutus saw that one coming.
Williams lands a nice looking body shot.
Brutus fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Williams avoids it really well and circles away.
Brutus moves out of range as Williams strikes.

Williams lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Brutus circles away quickly and effectively.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Brutus is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Brutus uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Williams.

Brutus feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Brutus accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Brutus stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Williams swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Williams lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Brutus!
Brutus wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Will Williams go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Brutus takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Brutus is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Williams.
Brutus rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Williams wants to stand but Brutus has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Williams is keen to just control but Brutus is a slippery customer.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Williams cracks Brutus with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Brutus takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Brutus looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Williams is fending him off so far but Brutus persists. Nope, Williams circles away and we're back to standing.
