Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Josh Poisson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Josh Poisson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jack Scott!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Luis Engracia and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poisson looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Scott looks for a takedown but Poisson sprawls well.
Scott misses with a low kick.
Poisson lands a head shot.


It looks like Jack Scott has been cut.
Oooh a lovely combination from Poisson sends Scott down but not out. Poisson dives into side control looking to finish.


Scott is rocked!
Scott tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Poisson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Scott is still in real trouble! Can Poisson finish him?
Scott gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Scott is trying to maintain the position but Poisson is very close to passing his half guard.
Scott seems to have recovered his senses.
Scott is trying to get back to full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Scott can do anything to dispel that myth.

Poisson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Scott looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Poisson wants to control but Scott is keeping him busy.
Scott is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Scott walks into a straight right hand from Poisson.
Poisson is looking to clinch.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Scott closes the distance and clinches up with Poisson, looking for a takedown. Scott pushes Poisson against the cage but Poisson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Scott takes a swing at Poisson's ribcage but misses.
Scott misses with the body kick
and Poisson counters with a body kick that stops Scott in his tracks momentarily.
Scott looks gassed!
Poisson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Scott has a takedown stuffed.
Josh Poisson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Scott.
Poisson connects with a jab.
Poisson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Poisson throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Scott on the side of the head.
Poisson looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Scott shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Poisson as he jumps to the side.
A punch lands to the side of Scott 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Jack Scott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Poisson ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Poisson lands a nice hook to Scott's body. Scott takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Scott throws a head kick but Poisson moves out of range.
Poisson fails in his attempt to clinch.
Scott is trying desperately to land a takedown but Poisson is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Scott.

Scott has gone for a leg lock! Poisson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Scott's guard.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Poisson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Scott.
Scott shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Poisson but Poisson pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Scott is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Poisson knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Poisson for a finish.

Poisson is trying to maintain the position but Scott is very close to passing his half guard.
Poisson is refusing to be controlled, as Scott sits in half guard.

Scott is working for a kimura but Poisson is defending it quite comfortably.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Scott misses with a double jab.
Poisson lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Scott misses with a left hand
and Poisson counters with a head kick.
Poisson digs a good hook to Scott's body.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Poisson, right into the meat.
Poisson thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Scott if he has to take too many more of those.

Scott is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Poisson has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Scott seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Poisson is holding on tight.
Poisson tries to lock up and control but Scott gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Scott takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Scott has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Poisson's face.

Scott goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Poisson turns into him and now he's in Scott's guard.
Scott looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Poisson puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Poisson lands a nice short elbow.
Poisson content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Scott is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Poisson pulls his head out easily.
Scott is looking to improve his position.
Scott is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Poisson wants to pass the guard but Scott is defending well.
Scott is trying to control but can't.
Scott is doing well to control the position and prevent Poisson from advancing to side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Jack Scott.
I think Scott has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
