Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ben Saunders (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Jason Ama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ama is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Hallelujah. Paul Jason Ama told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ben Saunders!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Paul Jason Ama!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Daniel Blasius and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ama misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ama throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A head kick misses from Ama.
Ama fails with an attempt to clinch.
Ama stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ama wants it to stay on the feet.
Saunders shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ama as he jumps to the side.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ama tries a head kick but it misses.
Ama throws a head kick that misses.
Ama tries to close the distance and clinch but Saunders swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Saunders crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Ama - the referee stops the clock and Saunders gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Ama. Saunders manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Saunders gets the takedown into side control.
Ama struggling a bit here.
Ama is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Saunders has just dragged him back down to the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Saunders looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Ama is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.
Saunders tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Saunders has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Ama wants to control but Saunders postures up.
Ama really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Saunders. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Saunders is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ama has escaped the position, nice work there.
Saunders working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Saunders is trying to get an arm triangle but Ama is defending well.
Saunders is breathing heavily.
Ama tries to escape but Saunders is in control.
Saunders has an Americana. Ama didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Saunders is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Saunders hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Ben Saunders!
