The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Johnson misses the target.
Blanka Madeira seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A combination from Madeira does no damage.
Horrible takedown by Madeira or perhaps it was just good defense by Johnson which made him look bad.
A looping hook to the body misses from Johnson. Madeira does a little dance to reset his feet.
Madeira takes a swing at Johnson's ribcage but misses.
Johnson throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

It looks like Dwayne Johnson has been cut.
Johnson leaves Madeira with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Madeira swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Johnson displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Madeira throws out the jab.

Madeira shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Johnson defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Blanka Madeira. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Madeira uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Johnson.

Johnson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Madeira.
Madeira bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Madeira throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Madeira swings for the body but Johnson moves out of range.

Johnson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Johnson lands a nice short elbow.

It looks like Blanka Madeira has been cut.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Johnson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Madeira's head.
Madeira has hold of Johnson's hands but Johnson slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Madeira trying to control but Johnson postures up.
Madeira is not content to let Johnson control the position.
Johnson missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Johnson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Madeira with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Blanka Madeira's cut is getting worse.

Madeira is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Johnson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Johnson's back!
Johnson is keeping busy.

Madeira has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Johnson has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Madeira is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Johnson defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Madeira tries to keep control of the position but Johnson is staying busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Blanka Madeira will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Blanka Madeira's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Madeira is looking to reverse the position.
Johnson lands a decent elbow from side control.

Jeez, Blanka Madeira's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Blanka Madeira's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
