Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brian Grit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronan Keller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ronan Keller!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Franklyn Lucas and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Keller stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Keller wants it to stay on the feet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Grit walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Grit fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Keller is out of range.

Keller breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Grit throws a jab but it's blocked by Keller.
Grit throws out a loose jab but Keller uses good head movement to avoid it.
Grit shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Keller sprawls well. Keller wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Grit gets slowly back to his feet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Grit looks to land a left hand but Keller moved out of range nicely.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Keller lands with an uppercut that bounces Grit off the cage and back into rage.
Keller blocks a jab.
Grit throws a looping overhand right but Keller ducks down to avoid it.

Grit bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Grit lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Keller has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Keller is working to avoid the ground and pound but Grit connects with a decent elbow.
Keller parries the strikes from Grit easily there. Grit is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Keller to escape.

Grit landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Grit looks up at the clock and then as Keller takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Grit smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Grit gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Keller counters with a one-two to the body.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Keller, as that shot connected.
Grit throws the left hand but Keller avoids the punch easily.
Keller scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Keller scores with a jab to the jaw.
Grit tries to score a power double leg takedown but Keller sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Grit somewhat.
Keller thuds a left hand into Grit's body.
Grit wants to slow Keller down by chopping away at his legs.
Keller cracks Grit with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Keller connects with a looping right hand.
Grit has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brian Grit. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Keller fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Grit, pushing him back against the cage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Keller ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Keller no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Grit postures up in Keller's guard and throws a big left but Keller blocks it.
Grit stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Keller swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Grit has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Keller gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Grit to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Grit connects with a couple of short punches.
Keller has momentary wrist control but Grit slips an elbow through the middle.
Grit postures up.
Grit working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Keller's head.
Grit throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Keller works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Keller is trying to keep Grit in close.
Grit keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Keller's head.

Keller has momentary wrist control but Grit slips an elbow through the middle.

Grit throws a strike but Keller rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Grit knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Keller on the ground.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Grit wants to sweep but no luck.
Grit manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Grit can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Keller is looking to escape.
Grit lands a big elbow.
Keller is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Grit pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

That was a close second round but I would say that Brian Grit will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Nice sprawl there from Keller as Grit shoots in.

Keller's corner calls for a 1-2. Keller obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Grit gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Keller.

Grit shoots in for a takedown but Keller shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Grit takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Brian Grit seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Keller scores with a one two! Grit had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Keller stalks Grit and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Grit's face. Grit staggers backwards, shaken.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Grit throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Grit is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Keller.

Keller rushes Grit and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Grit looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Keller pushes Grit back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Keller scores with a shot to the side of Grit's head.
Grit is looking to control Keller's arms but Keller gets an underhook and turns him. Now Grit has his back to the cage.

Keller breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Keller counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Grit throws a shot from downtown. Keller moves away and avoids it.

I think Keller has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
