Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Miguel Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Spar scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Spar seems to be working for a kimura but Sanchez defends the submission attempt.
Spar trying to control from half guard but Sanchez is working away.

Sanchez looking for submissions off his back.
Sanchez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Spar is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Spar wants to pass to mount but Sanchez is defending the position.
Spar throwing shots but Sanchez is blocking nicely.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Sanchez shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Spar counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Sanchez feints and as Spar raises his hands in defense, Sanchez changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Spar wants to sweep but no luck.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sanchez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Spar really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Spar holds on and takes a little breather.
Sanchez is stalling in the full guard.
Spar looking to control but Sanchez passes into half guard.

Sanchez has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Spar really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Sanchez blocks Spar's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Sanchez scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Spar is trying to stand.
Sanchez cracks Spar with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Sanchez is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Spar is surviving well by controlling Sanchez's body position as best he can.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sanchez looking to secure an arm triangle but Spar defends it well.
Spar tries to hold on but Sanchez pushes him away.
Sanchez is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Spar can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Sanchez is landing with some decent strikes but Spar is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Sanchez controlling his opponent.
Sanchez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Sanchez gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Sanchez tries for a takedown but Spar circles away easily

and Spar counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Sanchez lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Spar!
This has been an exciting period of action!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Spar tries to hold on but Sanchez postures up.
Spar is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Miguel Sanchez will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!


Spar with a poor takedown

so Sanchez counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Sanchez working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Spar throws his legs up looking for a submission but Sanchez uses it to pass to side control.
Sanchez trying to control the position but Spar is working away.
Spar throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.
Sanchez wants to control for a moment but Spar uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Sanchez tries to kick Spar off but Spar keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Spar keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Spar will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Sanchez wants to improve his position but Spar is controlling well.
Spar controlling the pace.
Sanchez is breathing heavily.
Sanchez is not content to let Spar control the position.

Spar lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Spar missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Spar has Sanchez up against the cage in a clinch.
Sanchez wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Spar is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Spar tightens his grip and picks Sanchez up, before dumping him to the ground. Sanchez manages to land in guard.

Sanchez looking for a guillotine here but Spar defends easily.
Sanchez lands an upkick as Spar stands over him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Sanchez is looking to sinch up a triangle. Spar throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Sanchez's body to avoid the submission. Sanchez has instead reached around Spar's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Sanchez arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Miguel Sanchez!
