The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Putnam bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The ground and pound from Putnam seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Putnam lands a nice forearm strike.
Franklin tries to escape but Putnam is in control.
Putnam misses with the ground and pound.
Putnam wants to lay and pray for a moment but Franklin keeps working.
Franklin is pushing Putnam's head away, looking to escape. Putnam manages to hold on to the position though.
The strikes coming from Putnam are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Franklin regains half guard.
Franklin on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Franklin tries to get out of the position.
Putnam is keen to just control but Franklin is a slippery customer.
Franklin is trying to stand.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Putnam moves in looking to clinch but Franklin pushes him off.
Putnam tries to clinch there but Franklin circles away.
Bob Franklin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Franklin tries a head kick but it misses.
Franklin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Franklin lands a nice looking kick to the body. Putnam takes a step back to recover.
Putnam looks gassed!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Franklin knocks Putnam to the floor with a head kick! Can he finish him!?

Putnam is rocked!

It looks like Mickey Putnam has been cut.
Franklin controlling from side mount.
Putnam is still in real trouble! Can Franklin finish him?

Putnam tries to buck Franklin off but Franklin is having none of it.
Putnam seems to have recovered his senses.
Franklin will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Putnam is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Franklin takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Franklin lands a head kick that stumbles Putnam and the fighters go to the mat.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Franklin stands up and waves to Putnam to follow him.
Putnam drops Franklin with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Franklin looks back up at him and smiles so Putnam waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Franklin is rocked!
Bob Franklin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Putnam throws a right and a left that Franklin avoids nicely.
Oh Franklin is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Putnam lands an uppercut, right on the button! Franklin tumbles backwards into the cage, staring vacantly into space! He's got no idea where he is, who he is or what day it is... Poor guy.
