PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Otto Bloomfeld (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alvaro Ibanez Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Otto Bloomfeld!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Alvaro Ibanez Santos!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Steven Brown and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bloomfeld closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Bloomfeld keeps control of Santos as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Santos escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Santos will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Santos looks to land a combination but Bloomfeld avoids it well.
Bloomfeld throws a leg kick but Santos sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Santos tries to move into range but Bloomfeld moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Santos throws a hook to the side of Bloomfeld's head but Bloomfeld sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Bloomfeld uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Santos.
Santos goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Santos defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Bloomfeld.

Bloomfeld throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Santos was covering up waiting for the punch and Bloomfeld finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Bloomfeld got a little sloppy there for a moment and Santos has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bloomfeld has managed to get both his arms back between Santos's legs - danger averted.

Santos has his foot on Bloomfeld's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bloomfeld works his way back into a safe position though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bloomfeld has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Santos has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bloomfeld can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Santos is not content to let Bloomfeld control the position.
Bloomfeld wants to stand up but Santos is controlling the position.
Bloomfeld is just content to waste time from the top position. Santos takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Santos had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bloomfeld defends it easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bloomfeld sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Santos's guard.
Santos tries to get to full guard but Bloomfeld has control of the leg.
Bloomfeld is thwarting Santos's attempts to control the position.
Santos is trying to get back to full guard.
Santos is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Still in half guard, Bloomfeld seems content to control.
Santos gets back to full guard.
Bloomfeld trying to stand up but can't free himself from Santos's guard.
Bloomfeld trying to control but Santos is working from the bottom.
Bloomfeld wants to get up but he can't break Santos's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Bloomfeld throws a big right hand that misses.

Santos tries to land a sweep but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Otto Bloomfeld will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Bloomfeld fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Bloomfeld moves in looking to clinch but Santos pushes him off.
Santos slips a jab and a cross from Bloomfeld.
Santos scores with a body shot.
Santos works over Bloomfeld's head and body with a nice combination.
Santos cracks Bloomfeld with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Bloomfeld changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Santos tries to avoid it but Bloomfeld manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Santos to the ground. Santos escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Bloomfeld fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Otto Bloomfeld. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

A big right from Santos misses.
Bloomfeld walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Otto Bloomfeld is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Bloomfeld shoots in looking for a takedown. Santos tries to sprawl out of it but Bloomfeld keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Santos manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Santos wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Santos rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bloomfeld moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Santos paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Bloomfeld takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Bloomfeld walks into a stiff left hand from Santos.
Santos lands a jab to Bloomfeld's midsection.
Santos drops Bloomfeld with a huge uppercut! Bloomfeld drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Santos is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alvaro Ibanez Santos!
