Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Charlie Rogan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edmundo Vascaino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Charlie Rogan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Edmundo Vascaino!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vascaino tries to clinch but Rogan moves out of range.
Edmundo Vascaino seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rogan moves into range and clinches up with Vascaino.
Rogan is trying to maintain a safe position but Vascaino gets an underhook and turns Rogan into the cage.
Vascaino fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Vascaino swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Rogan drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rogan jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Rogan seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

and Rogan counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rogan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Rogan is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Rogan drops back looking for a leg! Vascaino is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Vascaino manages to kick Rogan off! Rogan jumps back into Vascaino's guard.

Rogan shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Vascaino sprawls well. Vascaino wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rogan gets slowly back to his feet.
Rogan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Vascaino is fending him off so far but Rogan persists. Nope, Vascaino circles away and we're back to standing.

Vascaino closes the distance and pushes Rogan back into the cage.

Rogan has Vascaino pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Vascaino manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Vascaino pushes Rogan back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Vascaino swings wildly with an uppercut but Rogan uses good head movement to avoid it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Vascaino wants to stand but Rogan has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Rogan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Vascaino can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rogan is looking for a triangle but Vascaino pushes his legs off easily.

Rogan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Vascaino doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Vascaino manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Rogan is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Vascaino is aware though and is defending well.

Rogan jumps guard but Vascaino stands there with Rogan around his waist. Rogan gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

and Rogan counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Rogan looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Rogan seems to be looking for submissions.

Rogan is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Vascaino is just riding it out for now. Rogan eventually gives up the hold.

Rogan is looking for a kimura but Vascaino is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Rogan to get the leverage.

Rogan seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Vascaino is holding on tight.

Edmundo Vascaino has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Rogan has hold of Vascaino's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Vascaino manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Vascaino has given up his back here. Will Rogan look for the submission or keep pounding away?

Charlie Rogan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Rogan is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Vascaino defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Will Rogan go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rogan, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
