Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Huston Rustow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mario Nicks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Chris Downing and George Francis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nicks throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Nicks misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rustow.

Rustow gets a clinch.
Rustow wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Nicks has him pressed against the cage.

Nicks breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Nicks slips a straight right by Rustow.
Nicks lands a right hook to the body.
Rustow lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Nicks circles away quickly and effectively.
Rustow is looking to clinch but Nicks is avoiding it.
Nicks fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Rustow looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Nicks scores with a jab to the body.
Nicks looks to throw the jab but Rustow is out of range.
Nicks lands a nice looking body shot.
Nicks scores with a crisp jab that stopped Rustow in his tracks.

It looks like Huston Rustow has been cut.
Nicks throws a right and a left that both miss.
Nicks misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rustow.
Rustow comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Rustow thuds his right hand into Nicks's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Nicks throws an overhand right that lands on Rustow's shoulder, as Rustow tries to avoid the shot.

No joy there for Rustow, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Rustow moves into the clinch successfully.
Nicks just leaning against Rustow, taking a breather.
Nicks is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

letting Nicks counter with a right hand.

and Nicks cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Rustow tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Nicks paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Rustow throws a head kick but Nicks moves out of range.

Nicks scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Rustow misses with a double jab.
Rustow getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Nice uppercut lands for Nicks. That snapped Rustow's head back.
Nicks tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rustow was well out of range. Poor timing from Nicks.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rustow misses the jab.
Rustow throws a quick inside leg kick.
Nicks stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Rustow.
Nicks looks gassed!
Rustow tries to clinch but Nicks moves out of range.
Rustow lands a right hook to the body.
Mario Nicks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nicks tries to move into range but Rustow moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Nicks throws a lazy right hand but Rustow sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
A nice leg kick lands there from Rustow.

Nicks walks into a straight right hand from Rustow.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Rustow, right into the meat.
Nicks has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Rustow finds it's way round the side to connect with Nicks's head.
Rustow rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Nicks moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Rustow misses with a hook.
Rustow fails in his attempt to clinch.
Rustow throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Nicks.
Nice defenses there by Rustow.

and Rustow counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Rustow cracks Nicks with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Rustow drives through and clinches with Nicks against the cage.

Nicks escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nicks tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Rustow is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.

Rustow throws a half hearted mid kick.
Nicks drops his hands momentarily and Rustow takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Nicks takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Rustow looks to land a combination but Nicks avoids it well.
Rustow tests Nicks's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Rustow misses with a jab, cross combination.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Nicks tries to bum rush Rustow with a series of wild strikes but Rustow uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Nicks is breathing heavily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rustow throws a monster overhand right that drops Nicks! Rustow follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!
