Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yoshi Yamaguchi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jose Greco!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Taro Takaoka and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Yamaguchi closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Greco is pushing Yamaguchi's head away, looking to escape. Yamaguchi manages to hold on to the position though.
Yamaguchi cracks Greco with a big elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Yamaguchi tries for a kimura but Greco is defending well.
Greco is trying to get back to half guard.
Yamaguchi fails to land a wild elbow strike.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Greco is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Yamaguchi off and has taken his back!
Greco really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Yamaguchi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Greco looking to break Yamaguchi's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Yamaguchi remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Greco will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Yamaguchi tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Yamaguchi is squirming around, avoiding Greco's attempts to control the action.
Yamaguchi manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Yamaguchi controls Greco momentarily but Greco frees himself.

Yamaguchi is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Greco's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Greco's back!
Greco tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Yamaguchi is working for a guillotine from mount but Greco frees his head quite easily.
Yamaguchi is breathing heavily.
Greco has given up his back. Will we see Yamaguchi going for some submissions?

Yamaguchi throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
Even with his hooks in, Yamaguchi manages to miss with strikes from the back.
Greco is trying to stand back up.
Yamaguchi misses with punches from the back.

Yamaguchi patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Greco can't escape the position.
Yamaguchi lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Greco is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Yamaguchi off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Yamaguchi is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Yamaguchi is trying to stick to Greco's back but Greco is turning into Yamaguchi. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Yamaguchi's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Greco.
Greco wants to pass the guard but Yamaguchi is keeping the position.

Yamaguchi has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Greco can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Greco accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Yamaguchi wants to sweep but no luck.

Yamaguchi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Greco gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Greco stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Yamaguchi swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Yamaguchi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Greco avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Greco trying to stand up but can't free himself from Yamaguchi's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yoshi Yamaguchi dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Yamaguchi is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Yamaguchi goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Greco is on top in guard.
Greco wants to control from the top but Yamaguchi keeps moving.

Yamaguchi is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Greco has his hands clasped together but Yamaguchi extends an breaks Greco's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Yamaguchi.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Yoshi Yamaguchi!
