The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dick swats away the attempt to clinch by Wright.

DeMarcus Wright seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Wright had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Dick is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Wright Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Dick's back instead.

Wright decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Wright tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Dick paws at him with a jab and circles away.

The fight stays on the outside here - Wright looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Dick shoots for a double leg takedown but Wright sprawls well. He's pushed Dick's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Dick counters with a nice double leg into side control. Wright won't be happy with that.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Wright lands an elbow that stopped Dick in his tracks for a moment.
Dick should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Dick has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Wright is trying to keep an underhook but Dick manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dick wants to take a breather but Wright is having none of it.

Dick closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Dick walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Wright checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Wright digs a right hand into Dick's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Dick's gas tank.

Wright is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Dick still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Dick has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
