PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brock Lesnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kid Carwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lesnar comes to the cage accompanied by http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWLw05zmFjU. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Brock Lesnar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kid Carwin!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Sergei Dronov and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Lesnar with that takedown attempt.
Carwin slaps away a takedown attempt from Lesnar, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Lesnar throws a big shot that misses.

Lesnar closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Carwin is trying to stand up here but Lesnar is controlling him well.
Carwin moves into full guard.
Carwin throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Lesnar postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Carwin looking for a guillotine here but Lesnar defends easily.
Carwin utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Lesnar preventing the sweep.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carwin wants to stand but Lesnar is controlling the position.
Lesnar throwing strikes from guard but Carwin blocks nicely.
Lesnar wants to pass the guard but Carwin is keeping the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Carwin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Carwin wants to control from the top but Lesnar keeps moving.

Carwin decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Carwin rushes Lesnar and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Carwin tries to break the clinch but Lesnar is controlling the position.
Lesnar throws a knee to the head but misses.
Lesnar has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Carwin is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Lesnar pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Carwin gets underhooks to prevent Lesnar's takedown attempt.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Carwin creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Lesnar blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Lesnar has Carwin pressed against the cage, preventing Carwin from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Carwin lands a body shot in the clinch.

Carwin has clasped his hands together around Lesnar's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Carwin decides to stand back up.

Carwin wants to stand but Lesnar has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Carwin is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Carwin won't allow Lesnar to get back to his feet.

Lesnar wants to get back to his feet but Carwin is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

That's time! Lesnar's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Carwin drives through and clinches with Lesnar against the cage.
Lesnar tries to pull guard but Carwin holds him up against the cage and eventually Lesnar drops back down to his feet.
Carwin throws an elbow but it misses.

Lesnar pulls Carwin into guard.

Carwin decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Lesnar, up you get!
Carwin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lesnar swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Carwin misses with a wild combination.
Lesnar doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Carwin counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Carwin with a flurry of punches that miss.
Carwin throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lesnar works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Carwin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Carwin gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Lesnar swats away the attempt to clinch by Carwin.

Carwin closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Carwin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Carwin throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Lesnar gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Carwin counters with a good, hard body kick but Lesnar shrugs it off.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brock Lesnar. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Carwin dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Brock Lesnar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Carwin shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Lesnar's guard.

Lesnar wriggles free and stands up.
Carwin throws a wild body kick that Lesnar sees coming a mile off.

and Carwin counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Lesnar moves in looking to clinch but Carwin pushes him off.

Carwin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lesnar is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Carwin controls the position.

Carwin decides to stand back up.
Lesnar shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Carwin but Carwin pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Carwin is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Lesnar's half guard.

Lesnar wants to get back to his feet.
Carwin tries to stand but can't do so whilst Lesnar controls his leg.
Carwin wants to take a breather but Lesnar is having none of it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Carwin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lesnar does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Carwin throws a series of punches but Lesnar moves out of range.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Kid Carwin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Carwin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lesnar keeps working.
Lesnar is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Carwin has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Lesnar feints and as Carwin raises his hands in defense, Lesnar changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Lesnar thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Carwin's head.
Lesnar slips a nice elbow through Carwin's hands, connecting with Carwin's forehead.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Lesnar fails with the takedown

and Carwin counters by moving into the clinch.
Carwin drops down looking for an ankle pick but Lesnar pulls his leg out and moves away.

Lesnar decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Lesnar wants to free his trapped foot but Carwin is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Lesnar throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Lesnar looks to land a strike but Carwin avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Lesnar throws a strike but Carwin rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Carwin slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Lesnar wants to get back to his feet but Carwin is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Carwin wants to control from the top but Lesnar keeps moving.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Carwin decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
A combination from Carwin does no damage.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lesnar is defended easily by Carwin.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brock Lesnar. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Carwin fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Lesnar, pushing him back against the cage.
Lesnar tries to land a knee to the head but Carwin blocks with his arms.
Carwin lands an elbow inside that Lesnar shrugs off.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Carwin gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Lesnar has Carwin pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Carwin manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Brock Lesnar has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kid Carwin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
With the fighters up against the cage, Lesnar throws an elbow but misses.
Lesnar swings away with an uppercut that misses.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kid Carwin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Carwin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
