PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Martin Con (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Natural Born Killer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Martin Con!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Natural Born Killer!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Con fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Killer avoids it really well and circles away.
Killer leaves Con with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Con closes the distance and clinches up with Killer, looking for a takedown. Con pushes Killer against the cage but Killer circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Martin Con. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Con tries to score a power double leg takedown but Killer sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Con somewhat.

Killer looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Killer wants to work for an arm triangle but Con is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Killer is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Killer is trying to control. Con wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Killer is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Con is just riding it out for now. Killer eventually gives up the hold.

Killer is looking for a kimura but Con is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Killer to get the leverage.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Con looking for submissions off his back.
Killer trying to control from half guard but Con is working away.
Killer moves nicely into side control.
Killer wants to control but Con is keeping him busy.

Killer tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Killer has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Killer looks gassed!
Con sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Con really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Con slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Killer is looking to work some ground and pound but Con has wrist control.

Con throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Killer wants to pass the guard but Con is keeping the position.
Killer trying to control but Con is working from the bottom.

Con looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Killer lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Con working for a triangle but Killer defends it easily.

Killer drops back looking for a leg! Con is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Con manages to kick Killer off! Killer jumps back into Con's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Killer drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Killer jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Killer keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Con's head.
Con will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Killer gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Killer looking for a sweep. Not yet Killer, not yet.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Con accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Killer is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Killer utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Killer working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Con doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Con manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Con preventing the sweep.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Con postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Killer looking to hit a scissor sweep but Con is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Killer has his foot on Con's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Con works his way back into a safe position though.

Killer has his feet on Con's thighs here. He's pushed Con off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Con screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Natural Born Killer!
