Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Augusto Vera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Chuck Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Augusto Vera!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Marco Blurström and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vera shoots for a takedown but Silva saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Silva looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Vera gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Silva fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Vera wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Silva has him pressed against the cage.

Vera jumps into guard, dragging Silva to the mat.
Vera is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Vera has Silva pulled in close to control his posture.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vera pushes Silva off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Vera wants to clinch up but Silva keeps it at a distance.

Vera darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Vera controlling the action here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Vera is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Vera is working for a kimura but Silva is defending it quite comfortably.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Vera thows a huge punch but Silva dodges it nicely.
Vera stops Silva from getting back to his feet.
Vera is taking a breather. Silva says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Let's hope that Vera has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Vera lands with a punch from half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Augusto Vera dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Vera throws a right hand that Silva ducks under and follows up with a left that Silva also avoids with ease.
Vera tries to clinch there but Silva circles away.
Silva keeps the fight on the outside.

and Vera counters by clinching up.
Vera has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Silva is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Vera tightens his grip and picks Silva up, before dumping him to the ground. Silva manages to land in guard.

Vera decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Silva, up you get!

Vera clinches.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Vera missing with knees to the body.
Vera tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Vera breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Vera darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Silva might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Vera is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Silva is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Vera is taking a breather. Silva says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Vera's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Despite being in the dominant position, Augusto Vera just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Vera clinches up against the cage.

Vera pulls Silva into guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Vera holds on and takes a little breather.

Vera managing to control the position.
Silva wants to control from the top but Vera keeps moving.
Vera has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Augusto Vera showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Vera wants to clinch up but Silva keeps it at a distance.

Vera shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Silva is trying to defend but Vera finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Vera content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Vera looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Vera controlling the action here.
Silva is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Vera stands up out of the half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Vera scores with a three punch combo!

Silva gets caught flat footed, as Vera shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Vera decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Silva, up you get!

Vera closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Silva did well to prevent Vera getting side control.

Vera is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Augusto Vera comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Vera has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
