PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Vinny Jaeger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miles Connor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vinny Jaeger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Miles Connor!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Eddie Farnsworth and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Connor is defended easily by Jaeger.
Jaeger throws a right and a left that both miss.
Jaeger fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Connor manages to avoid it.
Jaeger throws the kick towards the body but Connor avoids it.
Jaeger keeps the fight on the outside.
Connor on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Jaeger lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Jaeger rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Connor moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Jaeger stuffs the takedown.
Connor wants to clinch.
Connor dives in and grabs Jaeger's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jaeger pushes down on Connor's head and hops out.
Vinny Jaeger has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Miles Connor.
Jaeger closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Connor dodges the punch combination from Jaeger.
Jaeger throws a series of punches but Connor avoids them all with ease.
Jaeger stuffs the takedown attempt from Connor. Connor gets slowly back to his feet.
Vinny Jaeger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Connor tries to keep at a distance but Jaeger has taken the fight into the clinch.
Jaeger lands with a left to the head.
Jaeger wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Jaeger escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Jaeger moves into the clinch successfully.
Jaeger is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Jaeger breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jaeger looks to score with a jab to the body but Connor is just out of range.
Jaeger doesn't manage to clinch there - Connor circles away.
Jaeger connects with the punch.
Connor tries to close the distance and clinch but Jaeger swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Jaeger closes the distance looking to clinch

and Connor counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jaeger won't be happy with that.
Jaeger is trying to buck Connor off.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jaeger trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Connor in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Jaeger is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Connor has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Connor tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Connor has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Connor tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jaeger gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Connor won't let Jaeger get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

You get the feeling that Jaeger really doesn't like being in this position too much.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Connor sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Connor scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Jaeger?
Jaeger's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Connor content just to control the position here.
Jaeger is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Connor takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Jaeger tries to buck Connor off but Connor takes his back!
Jaeger is breathing heavily.
Connor lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Miles Connor dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Jaeger lands a jab to the nose.
Jaeger is looking to clinch.
Jaeger displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Connor closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jaeger circles away.
Connor tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jaeger paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Connor takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Connor decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Jaeger wants to stand back up but Connor manages to pass into side control.

Connor stands up.
Jaeger swings for the body but Connor moves out of range.
Jaeger looks to land a combination but Connor avoids it well.
Connor takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Jaeger tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Connor paws at him with a jab and circles away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Connor avoids the body shot from Jaeger.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Connor tries to pull guard but Jaeger holds him up against the cage and eventually Connor drops back down to his feet.
Connor is trying to break the clinch but Jaeger is controlling him.
Connor tries to work over Jaeger's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Connor breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jaeger with a jab.
Jaeger connects with a jab.

Connor closes the distance and clinches.
Jaeger tries to circle away but Connor has him pinned against the cage.
Connor jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Jaeger walks away with a smile on his face. Connor gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Vinny Jaeger has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Miles Connor.

Connor is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Jaeger's half guard.
Jaeger is trying to escape back to his feet but Connor uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Jaeger wants to get back to his feet but Connor is dominant here and he's now got Jaeger's back!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Connor is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Jaeger taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Connor.
