Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shane Carwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shane Carwin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, Frank Mir!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carwin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Sloppy strikes there by Carwin.
Carwin fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Mir tries to bench press Carwin off him but Carwin keeps the position.
Mir sneaks back into half guard.
Mir tries to roll over but Carwin keeps him under control.
Carwin is looking to pass Mir's guard but actually Mir recovers to full guard.
Mir keeping moving, preventing Carwin from controlling successfully.
Mir wants to sweep but no luck.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Carwin wants to control from the top but Mir keeps moving.
Mir not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Carwin stands and throws Mir's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Carwin tries to advance to mount but can't.
Carwin wants to control but Mir is keeping him busy.
The strikes coming from Carwin are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Mir lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Carwin circles away quickly and effectively.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Carwin tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mir was well out of range. Poor timing from Carwin.
Mir misses with a hook. Carwin ducked under it nicely.
A nice combination there by Carwin.


It looks like Frank Mir has been cut.
Carwin tries to clinch up but Mir circles away and keeps his distance.
Carwin throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mir.
Carwin tries to clinch but Mir is having none of it.
Carwin misses with a few strikes there.
Carwin slips a jab from Mir.
Carwin misses the jab.
Carwin dodges the punch combination from Mir.
Carwin lands with a kick to the ribs.

Carwin shoots in and bounces Mir off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Carwin won't allow Mir to sweep him here.
Carwin working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Carwin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mir swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Mir is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Carwin manages to break the clinch.
Mir works Carwin's body with a nice hook.
Mir misses with a straight left.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Carwin wants to clinch up but Mir keeps it at a distance.
Carwin misses with a shot to the body
and Mir counters with a two punch combo.

Carwin closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Mir is trying to control Carwin's posture but Carwin avoids it.
Carwin trying to control the position but Mir is working away.
Carwin tries to advance to mount but can't.
Carwin throws an elbow but Mir slips to the side and avoids it well.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Carwin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mir keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Frank Mir's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Carwin thows a body kick. Mir tries to catch it but that hurt him.

Carwin looks to land a right hand but Mir moved out of range.
Carwin lands with a cross.
Mir ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Carwin moves away.
Carwin ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Carwin is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Mir.
Mir takes a swing at Carwin's ribcage but misses.
Mir is breathing heavily.
Carwin swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Carwin ducks under a wild hook from Mir.
Mir lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Carwin pushes Mir up against the cage in a clinch.

Carwin manages to break the clinch.
Carwin throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Mir staying out of range there.
Mir takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Carwin throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Mir counters with a one-two to the body.
Carwin keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Mir avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Mir keeps the fight on the outside.
Nice uppercut lands for Carwin. That snapped Mir's head back.

Mir shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Carwin holds on for dear life, controlling Mir's posture momentarily.

Carwin really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Carwin has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Mir's lack of action.
The fighters are battling for position here. Carwin manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mir tries to free his leg and advance position but Carwin is retaining full guard.
Carwin looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Mir missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Carwin pulls Mir in close to his closed guard and prevents Mir from doing any damage or advancing position.
Mir wants to control from the top but Carwin keeps moving.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Mir passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Mir throwing shots but missing, from side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Carwin tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mir wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



Mir drives through with a takedown into guard.
Carwin looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mir is one step ahead there.
Mir wants to control from the top but Carwin keeps moving.
Carwin controlling Mir's posture.
Mir throws and elbow that misses. Carwin uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Mir's guard. Nice move by Carwin!

Carwin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mir swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Mir tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Carwin loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Mir keeping moving, preventing Carwin from controlling successfully.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Carwin closes the distance looking to clinch
and Mir counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mir defending well as Carwin loads up on a big left hand.
Carwin bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
A big right from Mir misses.
Frank Mir has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mir uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Carwin.
Mir scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Shane Carwin is winning the standup battle so far.
The fighters circling - Mir throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Mir changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Carwin looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Carwin is not content to let Mir control the position.
Carwin is trying to get back to half guard.

Mir is looking to take a break and control but Carwin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Carwin is looking to regain half guard here but Mir keeps moving and retains side control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mir fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Shane Carwin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Carwin avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Mir.
Mir lands a decent elbow from side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mir throwing strikes but Carwin manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Carwin looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Mir is avoiding damage well.

Frank Mir comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Carwin has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
