Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Svensson shoots in looking for a takedown. Singer tries to sprawl out of it but Svensson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Singer manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Svensson doesn't manage to clinch there - Singer circles away.
Singer bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Svensson goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Ali Singer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Singer fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Svensson blocks a jab.
Svensson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Singer lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.


It looks like Melvin Svensson has been cut.
Svensson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Singer fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Singer scores with a jab to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Singer throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Svensson looks gassed!
Singer dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Singer cracks Svensson with an open hand slap.
Singer lands with a cross.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Singer misses with a kick to the body.

That has opened up Melvin Svensson's cut even more.
Decent striking displayed by Singer there.

Singer drops Svensson with a beautiful combination! Svensson stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Singer is looking for the KO!


Svensson is rocked!
Svensson takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Singer cracks Svensson with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Singer has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Svensson to stand back up!
Svensson is still on wobbly legs! Can Singer finish him?


The cut above Melvin Svensson's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Singer moves in close and cracks Svensson with a massive right hand! Svensson, frozen momentarily in time, tumbles to the canvas, already out cold! A brutal knockout by Singer!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Ali Singer!
