The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Novitskiy circles away from the clinch attempt.

Novitskiy is pressed up against the cage. Gailfus has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Novitskiy down to the mat. Novitskiy avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Gailfus will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

and Gailfus counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Novitskiy's guard now.
Gailfus really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The referee asks Gailfus politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Gailfus prefers to stall for the moment though.

Novitskiy is bucking up trying to escape but Gailfus cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Gailfus stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Gailfus delivers a nice body kick.

Novitskiy leaves Gailfus with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Gailfus jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Alexander Novitskiy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gailfus is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Novitskiy wants to control from the top but Gailfus keeps moving.

Novitskiy has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Gailfus to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Novitskiy is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Gailfus pulls down on the head and he's put Novitskiy to sleep! This one is all over!
