PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Vadim Kharghai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Bitnis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kharghai kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Julma-Henri & Syrjäytyneet - Oulu - Helsinki. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, John Bitnis!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bitnis misses with a looping right.
Bitnis fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kharghai avoids it really well and circles away.

Kharghai shoots in and bounces Bitnis off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Kharghai slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bitnis looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Kharghai has picked Bitnis up and slammed him! Bitnis can't keep hold of the triangle and Kharghai manages to pass to side control!
Kharghai landing strikes.
Kharghai wants to control but Bitnis is keeping him busy.
Kharghai just content to control the position.
Bitnis sneaks back into half guard.

Kharghai prevents Bitnis from improving his position.
Kharghai is trying to control. Bitnis wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Kharghai thows a huge punch but Bitnis dodges it nicely.
Kharghai lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Bitnis makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Bitnis.

Bitnis working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kharghai doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kharghai manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kharghai tries to free his leg and advance position but Bitnis is retaining full guard.

Bitnis is looking for a triangle but Kharghai pushes his legs off easily.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Kharghai stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bitnis swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kharghai pushes down on Bitnis's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Kharghai prevents Bitnis from improving his position.
Bitnis gets back to full guard.
Kharghai advances position into side control!
Kharghai tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Bitnis is looking for a sweep.

Kharghai has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Bitnis!
Bitnis is squirming around, avoiding Kharghai's attempts to control the action.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kharghai prevents Bitnis from getting the reversal.
Bitnis looks gassed!

Kharghai looking to control and managing it successfully.
Bitnis sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Bitnis tries to get to full guard but Kharghai has control of the leg.
Kharghai lands with a punch from half guard.
Bitnis is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Kharghai trying to control from half guard but Bitnis is working away.
Kharghai takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Kharghai is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Kharghai is trying to control. Bitnis wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Bitnis misses with an uppercut.
Bitnis fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Kharghai pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Bitnis throws a hook but Kharghai blocks it.

Kharghai closes the distance and clinches.
Kharghai is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Bitnis gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Kharghai changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Bitnis fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Bitnis tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kharghai was well out of range. Poor timing from Bitnis.
Kharghai moves out of range as Bitnis strikes.
Bitnis stalks Kharghai and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Kharghai's face. Kharghai staggers backwards, shaken.

Kharghai drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Bitnis controls Kharghai momentarily but Kharghai frees himself.
Bitnis looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Kharghai puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Bitnis is breathing heavily.
Bitnis wants to get back to full guard.

Kharghai is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Bitnis sees it coming and defends easily.
Kharghai uses his free foot to push down on Bitnis's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Bitnis.
Bitnis is in all sorts of trouble here.
Kharghai lands a nice shot to the head.

Bitnis looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kharghai wants to improve his position but Bitnis is controlling well.
Kharghai regains full guard. Nicely done.
Kharghai pulls Bitnis in to control the position.
Kharghai keeping moving, preventing Bitnis from controlling successfully.
Bitnis is fighting to break Kharghai's control of his arms but Kharghai is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bitnis accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Bitnis wants to control from the top but Kharghai keeps moving.

Kharghai is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Vadim Kharghai is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Bitnis has gone for a leg lock! Kharghai slips out almost immediately though and dives into Bitnis's guard.

Bitnis has an active guard here but Kharghai has managed to pass into half guard.
John Bitnis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kharghai, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
