Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Matt Frederick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Desmond Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Frederick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Desmond Nelson!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Alyssa Summers and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson throws a shot to the body.
Frederick looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Nelson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Nelson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A punch combination from Nelson misses.
Frederick moves out of range of the body kick from Nelson.
Nelson shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nelson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Frederick.
Nelson misses with a low kick as Frederick jumps back.
Nelson fails with the takedown

so Frederick counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Nelson has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Frederick off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Nelson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Frederick counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Matt Frederick has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Desmond Nelson.
Nelson gets full guard.
Frederick tries to free his leg and advance position but Nelson is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Frederick got a little sloppy there for a moment and Nelson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Frederick has managed to get both his arms back between Nelson's legs - danger averted.

Frederick has gone for a leg lock! Nelson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Frederick's guard.

Nelson's corner is telling him to maintain position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Nelson passes Frederick's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Nelson is trying to control the action in half guard but Frederick is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Matt Frederick will probably get the nod.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Despite being in the dominant position, Desmond Nelson just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Nelson fails to land with a series of punches.
Nelson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Frederick circles away quickly and effectively.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Frederick uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Nelson.

Nelson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Frederick manages to avoid it.

Frederick blocks the body kick.
Nelson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

A decent looking cross lands there for Nelson.
Frederick moves out of range as Nelson throws a body kick.
Frederick ducks under a wild hook from Nelson.
Nelson doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Frederick counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Frederick is thwarting Nelson's attempts to control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Frederick is working for a submission of some sort.

Frederick seems to be working for a kimura but Nelson defends the submission attempt.
Nelson is trying to control but can't.

Frederick is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Nelson is just riding it out for now. Frederick eventually gives up the hold.
Nelson gets full guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Frederick is fighting to break Nelson's control of his arms but Nelson is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Nelson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Frederick defends it easily.

Frederick has gone for a leg lock! Nelson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Frederick's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nelson wants to stand but Frederick has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Frederick dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Frederick, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
