PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Derek Brickman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mitch Pitch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brickman comes to the cage accompanied by Cockney Thug- Rusko. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Derek Brickman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mitch Pitch!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Richard Clark and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brickman shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Pitch's guard.
Pitch manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Brickman manages to get himself to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pitch looking to pass the guard.

Pitch drops back looking for a leg! Brickman is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Brickman manages to kick Pitch off! Pitch jumps back into Brickman's guard.
Pitch should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Pitch is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Pitch trying to control the position from guard on top but Brickman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Brickman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pitch on the ground.
Pitch won't allow Brickman to sweep him here.
Pitch slips nicely into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Brickman works his way to full guard. Good work.
Brickman looking for a sweep. Not yet Brickman, not yet.
Brickman wants to stand but Pitch is controlling the position.
Pitch postures up.

Brickman working for a triangle but Pitch defends it easily.
Brickman has momentary wrist control but Pitch slips an elbow through the middle.
Pitch trying to control but Brickman is working from the bottom.
Brickman looking for a sweep. Not yet Brickman, not yet.
Brickman is breathing heavily.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Pitch misses with a takedown

and Brickman counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Pitch tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Pitch keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Brickman is working for a kimura but Pitch is defending it quite comfortably.
Pitch moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pitch bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Brickman's guard.
Brickman tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Pitch wants to control from the top but Brickman keeps moving.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Brickman holds on and takes a little breather.
Pitch stopping the sweep attempt from Brickman.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Brickman misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Brickman fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Pitch sprawls well initially but Brickman persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Brickman is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Pitch looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Brickman winds up and cracks Pitch with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Pitch is trying to stand.
Pitch gets back to full guard.
Brickman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pitch swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Pitch is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Pitch lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Brickman tries to roll over but Pitch keeps him under control.

Pitch is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Pitch is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Brickman is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Mitch Pitch!
