Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jamal Russell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Douglass Devine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Douglass Devine was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Russell throws a right hand that Devine ducks under and follows up with a left that Devine also avoids with ease.
Devine looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Devine slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Devine tries to advance to mount but can't.
Devine trying to control the action but Russell is working from the bottom.
Russell manages to get back to half guard.
Devine thows a huge punch but Russell dodges it nicely.
Devine slips a nice elbow through Russell's hands, connecting with Russell's forehead.
Russell is defending against the submission attempts here by Devine.
Russell has hold of Devine's hands but Devine slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Jamal Russell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Devine tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Russell paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Devine counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Devine.
Russell seems to have got his legs back now.
Devine forces his way into half guard.
Devine throwing shots but Russell is blocking nicely.
Devine really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Russell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Devine wants to control but Russell is keeping him busy.
Russell manages to get to full guard.
Russell is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Russell avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Devine looking to sit in guard and control but Russell gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Russell stopping the sweep attempt from Devine.
Devine is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Russell is pushing down on Devine's leg trying to pass to half guard. Devine is fighting to maintain full guard but Russell has managed to sneak the leg through.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Russell misses with a shot to the body
and Devine holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Devine escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Russell throws a poor cross that misses
and Devine counters with a shoot takedown. Russell fights it but they end up in guard.
Devine throwing strikes from guard but Russell blocks nicely.
Devine in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Russell pushes Devine off and scrambles back to his feet.
Russell throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Devine finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Russell throws a lazy uppercut
and Devine counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Russell's guard now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Devine advances position into side control!
Russell is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Russell moves into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Devine wants to stand and escape but instead Russell has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Douglass Devine has got the better of the ground game so far.
Devine wants to control but Russell is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Devine slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Devine wants to stand up but Russell is controlling him.
Devine manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Russell manages to get himself to full guard.

Russell is looking for a triangle but Devine pushes his legs off easily.

Devine wants to stand and escape but instead Russell has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Devine. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Russell thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Devine has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Russell has passed into side control.

Devine wants to control but Russell postures up.
Devine tries to improve position but can't.
Russell is working to tighten is grip on Devine's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Devine has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Russell is really squeezing tight and eventually Devine passes out! Russell breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
