Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Apollo Creed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barry Obomba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Apollo Creed!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Barry Obomba!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Luis Engracia and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Creed or perhaps it was just good defense by Obomba which made him look bad.
Obomba doesn't manage to clinch there - Creed circles away.
Creed slips a jab and a cross from Obomba.
Creed shoots in for a takedown but Obomba shows good takedown defense.
Obomba rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Creed moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Creed.

Obomba sneaks out the side door and pushes Creed away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Obomba just misses with a punch to the body.
Creed lands with a good body shot.
Obomba misses with the combination.
Creed rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Obomba moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Obomba throws a predictable looking body shot

and Creed decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Obomba's guard.

Creed stays in close to Obomba's body and controls the position.

Obomba has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Creed is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Obomba.
Obomba tries to bench press Creed off him but Creed keeps the position.
Obomba is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Creed's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Obomba is looking for a sweep. Creed is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Creed is trying to control the action in half guard but Obomba is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Obomba tries to get to full guard but Creed has control of the leg.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Creed not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Creed is looking to advance position but Obomba won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Obomba gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Obomba pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Obomba tries to clinch but Creed is having none of it.

Creed shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Obomba napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Creed tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Creed has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Creed moves into full mount!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Creed in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Creed is landing with some decent strikes but Obomba is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Creed lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Obomba is squirming around, avoiding Creed's attempts to control the action.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Obomba avoids a series of strikes thrown by Creed.
Obomba slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Creed slips a nice elbow through Obomba's hands, connecting with Obomba's forehead.

Creed is trying to work for a kimura but Obomba is defending well.
Obomba tries to get to full guard but Creed has control of the leg.
Obomba is not content to let Creed control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Apollo Creed dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Obomba throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Barry Obomba seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Good work by Creed as he checks the leg kick.
Creed shoots in but Obomba avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Nice defenses there by Creed.
Creed looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Obomba fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Creed manages to avoid it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A nice combination there by Obomba.
Obomba lands a nice looking body shot.
Obomba lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Creed circles away quickly and effectively.
Creed swats away the attempt to clinch by Obomba.

A looping hook to the body misses from Creed. Obomba does a little dance to reset his feet.
A nice combination there by Obomba.
The fight stays on the outside here - Obomba looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Creed fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Obomba avoids it really well and circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Apollo Creed. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Obomba thows a body shot but no joy.
Creed shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Creed really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Obomba misses with a double jab.
Obomba falls off balance throwing a combination

so Creed counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Creed won't allow Obomba to get back to his feet.
Creed landing some decent shots from guard.

Obomba is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Creed rolls with it to try and escape but Obomba cranks on the arm and Creed is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
